Good evening, Elle!
Yes, still raining! It's quite heavy, too.
The Amsterdam folk have sent me several pics.
One is of thousands of bikes.
Seems to be a cycling city!
Thank you for the link!
Is your daughter doing the full marathon walk?
Wonder why it's at night?

Hi, Rusty!
You will be pleased to have heard from your son.
A photo of "thousands of bikes" has put me in mind of Katie Melua's song "Nine Million Bicyles in Beijing"
I like Katie Melua, as you know, and that is one of her most well-known songs.

Yes, my daughter is doing the full Marathon, as opposed to the half -marathon or the 10K walk.
You can see the three different routes detailed on the map.
She had originally planned to run a half marathon up in Manchester in October, but this clashed with a family wedding to which they have been invited (a cousin of my son-in-law ) , taking place in Ireland,
Hence the change of time and venue.
These charity "night -walks " are quite a popular venture.

Good morning, Elle!
Rain, rain, rain, here!
Just about to head out for my paper.
I have not heard of the Katie Melua song. (Ta for the clip!)
Well, the pics I have from Amsterdam, I think they would give the good folks of Beijing a run for their money regarding bikes!
And what ever happened to Peking!
There was a similar walk to your night walk, here, the "Dundee Kiltwalk", a couple of weeks ago.
Started in St Andrews and finished in Monifieth.
It came North from St Andrews, through Leuchars and Tentsmuir Forest, across the Road Bridge, through the town, and on to Monifieth.
It was very popular, and there were several different starting points along the route.
Right, I'm off...
"Goodbye Joe, me gotta go, me oh, my oh..."

Good morning, Rusty!
And we have sun!
I had a very pleasant walk this morning.......the park was quiet, the sun was shining , the sky blue....... and it was a tolerable temperature.
What more could one ask?
It sounds as though your son and his wife are having a great time in Amsterdam.........
Do they return home tomorrow?
Yes, your "Kiltwalk" sounds a similar event.
Is that also a Night Walk?
I have set my recorder for this afternoon's showing of the latest Diamond League.
Oops! You have given me an earworm......I am going to be wandering about singing "Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou" all the morning!!

Hello, Elle!
Rain here!
I was out in it earlier, was not too bad!
Yes, they like Amsterdam and are astounded by the number of bikes and cyclists.
No, the Kiltwalk is during the day.
Great fun, barbecues etc are set up on the route. Great fun!
Some pictures here.

There are much better pics in my local paper but I have reached my monthly limit of free articles from it online.

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, thank you, I have read your article about the Kiltwalk.
Is it obligatory then to wear a kilt for the event?
Either a genuine family tartan …..or maybe even a made-up one?
In the picture shown in the article, I saw some of what presumably were "fun" clothes?
I do not know how the system works?
Can just any one wear a plaid....or does one have to prove a Scottish heritage?
Our family connections are of the MacLean clan, and my cousin always wore his kilt for major events.

Hello, Elle!
I have no idea if you must wear a kilt on the Kiltwalk.
Possibly "encouraged" to, though?
I would imagine many non Scots with no family tartan, took part.
The more the merrier, for me, it is for worthy charities.
My daughter in law took part, and she walked in a kilt.
She said it was a great day out, though very windy crossing the bridge!

Hi, Rusty!
( Goodness, it took me a lot of scrolling to find your post!
And the "alien" spam post was not "listed" on the main menu?)
We have your rain!
All went terribly dark...and then the heavens opened!
I luckily just got in with the dog in time to avoid the downpour.
I watched the Diamond League.
Wow, what an exciting event!
Dina Asher Smith did well, didn't she, coming second again to Miller Uibo, who fortunately for Dina, will not be competing in the 200m at the World Championships.
This should leave Dina favourite in that race!
Karsten Warholm excelled today.......and Cheplegai won the 5000m.
Noah Lyles came first in the Men's 100m...it is a pity for his sake that he will not be running that in the "Worlds".
Xie was second, Yohan Blake third, and Gatlin down in fourth.
I did not see how Adam Gemili and Zharnell Hughes got on?
The Highlights, as usual, were rushed.....and I could see no placings for them?
BGT Champions tonight!

Hello, Elle!
I reported the spam.
Yes, I did not see much of the Diamond League but it was very good, what I did see.
Warholm is a super runner!
I have my machine set to record BGT and Millionaire.
In BGT, I think Ashleigh and Sully are on, with Paul Potts, The Sacred Riana, and Kseniya Simonova, the sand artist.
So, hopefully, it will be good!

Hi, Rusty!
I reported the spam to Norah, too!
I wonder how it got past Recaptcha...and why it wasn't shown on the Main Menu?
I was surprised to see it, as your previous post showed up on the Menu.
A mystery.....ah well, I am sure Norah will delete it .
I know the Sacred Riana ( don't I? the name sounds familiar) and the sand artist, but not the other two.
Although of course I have heard of Ashleigh and Pudsey.
I am looking forward to seeing the show...I like it when we get to the "nitty -gritty" .....and this time around, we are staring off with all "good" acts.
The rain has stopped......and a watery sun is waving his hat!
