Hello, Elle!
Yes, they are home now.
Yes, I completed my puzzle earlier today.
Some good clues today.
Very clever folk, these setters!

Here's a new article on the sea eagles.

Hi, Rusty!
Reading the new article about the sea eagles has made me wonder why it was decided to reintroduce them back into the area?
Whoever decided that this was the way to go, must surely have known what would eventually happen?
Would surely have realised that that the sea eagle would become a threat to the Scottish farming community?
I can understand that Conservationists want to preserve the bird species......but at what cost?
The statistics now are frightening...... and it is predicted that the existing 130 pairs of breeding eagle will increase to 500+ in 20 years' time.
I obviously am very ignorant of all the facts , but lambs cannot continue to be killed at such a rate.
One can say "but this is nature".......but it is "nature" that surely could have been prevented.,...by not reintroducing the sea eagles?
I've read about the different "scaring techniques " that are being considered......and I would hope that they work...
But I am still wondering why it was ever decided to go down this road in the first instance?

Good afternoon, Elle!
What a bonnie day!
Now, the sea eagles!
Some of the facts are being disputed.
It has been said that the lambs are already dead and the eagles are scavenging them.
The farmers and crofters say live lambs are being taken.
Common sense would suggest that re-introducing an apex predator like the sea eagle would cause livestock fatalities.
The eagles have to eat!
Seems to be a lack of thought behind it.
I wonder if they take fish at sea?
And what if one attempts to take a toddler?
Is that a possibility?
And there has been talk of re-introducing wolves to the Highlands.
And just what are they going to eat?
A friendly passing tourist?
I ordered diaries at tea-time yesterday and they were delivered at one o'clock today.
Well done Amazon!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Yes indeed, a rather tragic lack of thought behind the moves.....
Technically, I can see no reason why a sea eagle should distinguish between a lamb and a toddler.
It is presumably all just 'meat' to the bird?
And, as you say, the same principle will apply should wolves be reintroduced.
They too will need to eat......
Coincidentally, that passed through my mind when posting to you earlier....
We had the same thought.
When my younger daughter was on an organised work experience in the long Summer holidays, before starting at Uni (we're going back about 15 years), she was working in a hotel in Maryland.
A hotel guest stuck her baby outside the hotel in a pram......and a bear came along and "stole" the baby......you can envisage the rest.....
Who would put a child out in a pram, when bears might be around?
And who could blame said bear for eating 'breakfast'?
Nature is what it is, but common sense, and positive precautions need to prevail.

You are well ahead in ordering next year's diaries!
And good for Amazon on a quick delivery!

Hello, Elle!
I'll be a-watching the skies when I go for a walk along the Nature Trail now!
I had a book about bear attacks in the US.
Scary stuff!
Now, the diaries!
My son started his business in midsummer several years ago, and I got him a mid-year (academic) diary.
And he has got one every year since.
Now, two weeks ago Amazon tried to get me to join Prime.
I don't want to, but somehow I have landed with a month's free trial.
So, I am taking advantage of free post/next day delivery while the trial lasts.
Ordered my own diary too, and several other things.
I was watching the Amazon tracking system this morning.
It tells you how many stops away the driver is.
6 stops, 5 stops etc. It updates every 30 seconds I think.
It's very good!

Hi, Rusty!
It will be interesting to see how the sea eagle situation develops....maybe you can keep an eye out for articles in your local papers and report back?
That would be good.
Ah , now I understand about the mid-year diaries!
I too have some deliveries pending, but the parcels are coming with DPD, who give an hour's time slot on the day of arrival.
I appreciate that, as it does save a lot of hanging around.
I have been out for a walk since last we spoke!
The sky began to cloud over, and so I decided to shoot out, in case it rained later.
I went up to Crystal Palace Park , where all the preparations are being put in place for the yearly motor racing event over the May bank holiday w/e.
We shall be giving the park a a wide berth whilst that is going on!

Good evening, Elle!
Been a lovely sunny day here!
Yes, I'll keep an eye out for updates on the sea eagle situation.
An hour time slot is a very good idea.
My Amazon parcels delivery today could have taken up to 9 p.m.
And I got a parcel for my neighbour!
I am not keen on the motor racing, too.
Very noisy!

Hi, Rusty!
The Crystal Palace car racing is somewhat of a revived historic event.
Over a hundred vintage motor racing cars will apparently be on site.
There will be some timed racing events, with old and new cars competing against each other.
I understand that only one vehicle is on track for each timed run.
There will be trade stands, food stalls, and a funfair!
I have no doubt it will prove a popular event for some.......but not for me!
Now, please can you help me with my two remaining crossword clues?
It does not help that the two clues are interlinked.
10a: Green light in spare room ( 9)
C?E?R???E
9d: Love being by sea with musicians , it's something with pull ( 3-5, 6)
??? - A?M?D / ?A?D?T
I am completely stuck here!

Hello, Elle!
Beautiful evening here, no sign of the flooding!
Now to me 10a seems to have two definitions.
I went for "clearance", which can mean "green light" and "spare room".
OK?
9d, I have not parsed it, but the answer is "one armed bandit".
A slot gambling machine.
Looks like "o near Med band it".
A good puzzle today, I thought?

Hi, Rusty!
I must apologise for taking so long to reply to you...…..
My computer has been playing up since doing an unscheduled "Update" in the middle of the afternoon.
So I decided to set up "System Restore".
This, would you believe , has taken well over an hour to complete!!
Grrh!
Hence my late answer......
Thank you very much for solving my clues for me!
I would never have thought of "clearance" in either of those contexts!
Very good in getting it!
I don't think I have ever seen a "one -armed bandit"!
I cannot see how to parse it, either.
Yes, a nice puzzle today!
