Hello, Elle!
It is still dry here!
Yes, we had a nice time when we were out!
I finished my puzzle earlier.
Another fine puzzle!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I am glad you and your granddaughter enjoyed your outing!
Ah, so you have done your puzzle....then maybe you can help me with my last clue, please?
I eventually managed the other two...….
4d: Leave with drunkards and disappear (2,7)
G?/ W?L?I?S
Now "Go walkies" would fit here....but this surely means either to go missing, as in to be lost or stolen?
Or.... to take the dog for a walk!
I can find no reference as to its simply meaning "disappear"?
A "loose" definition , if so?
Or am I being pernickety?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, we had a nice time, and Miss L-B approved of my haircut and eyebrow trim!
I think the clue is fine.
Leave is "go", "w" for with, and "alkies" for drunkards.
I suppose "go walkies" can mean "to disappear".
It is not a phrase I use, but maybe in common usage with other folks?
Maybe you are just a tad pernickety!
I am quite happy with it!

elle. I think Go walkies is a bit like "Go for a long walk off a short pier" , which was common rudery in my school many decades ago! From The Free Dictionary-

go walkies
To disappear, usually due to being stolen or taken without permission.

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, so Miss L-B gave granddaughterly approval of the haircut ..and also an eyebrow trim?!
Hmm. yes, I can see how the answer was arrived at...I just do not agree with its usage!
I have heard said "oh don't leave it there, it might go walkies" as in someone might steal it!
( and I suppose, yes, the item would then "disappear", but to me that is too lose a definition....)
But anyway...right now...the sun is shining, and the dog and I are about to "go walkies" in the term's other sense!
Back in a bit!

Ros,
I've heard tell "Go take a long walk off a short pier" ..... but not "Go walkies " used in the same sense?
I agree with its meaning " to be stolen or taken without permission".

Hello, Elle!
Yes, Miss L-B kindly praised my efforts.
We shall have to agree to disagree, methinks!
I think it is a perfectly fine clue and solution.
Chambers Dictionary has, "go walkies", (of an inanimate object), to go missing, presumably stolen.
If something has "gone missing" it has "disappeared".
I am with the setter on this one!
It has brightened up here.
No sign of the heavy rains and floods that SEPA was rattling on about!
Gran is bringing a cooked tea for Misses L-B and O.
Well done, Gran!

Hi, Rusty!
A lovely afternoon out....warm and sunny, but with a gentle breeze.
Very pleasant!
My daughter worked different hours today, as she had a conference.
But we still had our long phone chat on her way home...just later than usual.
She has just been cut off by the bad reception as she approaches her home area.
This happens every time!
Your granddaughters are certainly getting spoilt, if their gran is cooking their evening meal!
How are the travellers doing?
When is it they return home?

Good evening, Elle!
Nice evening here, too.
Pity about your daughter's signal.
I believe EE had problems in certain areas today.
Gran is very good to those two!
I have not heard what they had for tea, though.
Travellers doing away fine.
They leave Orlando Sanford Airport on Thursday night and arrive at Glasgow on Friday morning.
They have had wonderful weather, they say.

Hi, Rusty!
Your son's holiday seems to have passed very quickly.....I had not realised that they are heading home on Thursday.
They will have much to tell you...and no doubt a lot of photographs to show you.
M younger daughter, son- in-law, and our two grandsons are going to Eastbourne for the coming Bank holiday weekend.
It will be a nice break for them.
And I think that next week is half term here.
Does Miss O have next week off?
I know that Scotland's holidays do vary quite a bit from ours.

Hello, Elle!
They will have been away for two weeks.
A few days at Anna Maria Island and 8 or 9 days at Orlando.
They do something called Facetime every evening to the girls.
It's some kind of 'phone call, I believe.
Now, what do you think of Gran?
I thought she was bringing tonight's tea, but she brought stovies, macaroni and cheese, and tuna pasta.
Enough for three night's teas!
Wish I had a Gran like that!
I don't know if Miss O is off next week, but I suspect not.
