Hello Kenyatta,

Are you around? Hope you are OK.

Have you received your Tea Cloth?
I am finding Simon Hughes' book a bit hard going ! It does not explain anything about the rules of cricket (just explains the origins of some rules and this can only be of interest to someone who knows the rule in question).

It traces the history and development of the game over several centuries (from 14th/15th century), and although he tries (as you said) to put some humour into it, it remains very serious reading if you want to take it all in.

I am not that interested in the history of the game and really thought I would get a simple guide to understand the game - perhaps something like 'cricket for dummies' would be better for me !

Dare I ask what the outcome of The Ashes was ?

Off to town now, so till later.

Hi Pigale
I have been watching cricket for 70 years and the rules are just as obscure,I just like to watch,we are doing well at the moment but it probably wont last.Your prices for the cat are about the same here,we always have our dogs and cats chipped and neutered but we dont have any vaccinations s one of dogs nearly died after the jab and they have always been healthy and lived til a ripe old age dogs til they were in their teens and the cats til they were in their twenties.Weather here is more May than the end of July

Hello Doglet,

Just back from down town - lovely to live on the heights of the village, but quite a walk uphill !

We are having the sort of weather we had in April - which was extra nice this year. But no rest for the wicked, heat comes back on Saturday - and quite frankly I am pleased!

When you get to know me a little more you will find I often moan about the weather ! It's either too hot or too humid or too cold for the season etc.... This is mainly because we can have extreme temps around here - we can (at times) be as hot if not hotter than the South of France but without the sea breeze, or we can be colder than high up on the mountains but without enjoying snow and ski slopes - As for rain, I know it is necessary so I agree we should have some, but only in the night ......Thus I moan !

I basically have been doing the same as you for my dogs, except that they always had injections the first year, when too vulnerable because very young. I am not too sure what to do with my little devils because we have a lot of stray cats around; so this year, everybody is having vaccins (including the mother) and for the future, well I don't know - I'll cross that bridge next year.

Hi Pigale
The weather seems so changeable that planning anything is a lottery we lived in India for several years and longed for snow as everyday was hot with bright blue skies and our first winter home gave us snow and more snow which was not so good so the weather is always wrongfor me IfNino has its way this year the winter will be the big freeze for some time

Hello Doglet and Pigale!
I've only just come in - I was out for lunch and then taking the dog for a walk!
A lovely , much warmer day here - we haven't been having your heavy rain, Doglet- apart from Friday evening for the Athletics! It has been very cold though for the last few days - I even put our heating on for a time!
I'm afraid I cannot agree with you about booster vaccinations. I'm a strong believer in keeping them up to date! We have always done this for all our animals.
Mind you, I can see your reluctance if one of your dogs nearly died after having the vaccination! but that surely has to be an unusual reaction though?

Elle, a lovely day up here!
I got a chromebook. It is still in it's box.
I'll have a go at it tomorrow.
Paula has just finished her round.
She is a bit off the lead, but had on a very nice outfit!
Lydia Ko is in second place for now.
What is it about the Tower that you find so appealing?

Doglet, view the quite strong northerly wind we had on Palm Sunday, we should be in for a harsh Winter - or so the old local farmer folks tell me. It is always reckoned that whatever the weather on Palm Sunday gives you the tendency for the year to come - particularly the wind direction. Now, the old farmers are seldom wrong, or at least not totally wrong.

So perhaps we should start knitting warm jumpers !!!!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, it turned out warm here, too - we hit 18C this afternoon! Quite a change from having the heating on the other day!
I had an enjoyable lunch - plenty of chat! - and then took out the dog when I came back. I haven't been in long.
That's good news about the Chromebook! What make did you get? Did your granddaughter help you choose?
How can you leave it in its box?! I'd want to have it out and be 'fiddling' with it!
I'm glad you are enjoying the golf (it is the golf you're supposed to be watching and not admiring Paula's outfit!) Is Lydia expected to win?
The Tower? I'm not sure why I find it so appealing? It is most interesting and there is a lot to see and learn. In days gone by(when I was younger!) visiting the Tower wasn't nearly so well organised an event, but now there is information to read in every room and it's well set out and attractively designed.
And the buildings themselves are very impressive. All the old weapons/ arsenal are on display in one of the upper rooms.
And, of course, there are the ravens to see - and the Beefeaters!
Oh, it's well worth a visit!

Hi Pigale
I went to a convent school where we were taught to sew and embroider but no knitting I did try once but ended up with a scarf about 6feet long as I couldnt find a way to cast off!! So I think my sweaters will have to be bought.Freddy will love the snow and the cats will refuse to leave the house. We were cut off because of the snow when we lived in Norfolk it was surreal

Hello, Elle!
My granddaughter chose a Toshiba chromebook for me and kindly let me pay for it.
It is out of the box (my son wanted to see it) and I shall try and get it going after ASDA tomorrow.
I just saw Paula, briefly, as she finished. (Blue top, gray skirt, gray tights). Very dapper!
Lydia will be very close at the finish, but the Korean lady, Inbee Park, is favourite to win.
The Tower does sound interesting. Gruesome?
Does Anne Boleyn get a mention, or Jane Grey?
I think the firing squads were in action there during WW1.
It has been a lovely evening here, with a faint hint of the Northern Lights.
Heartwarming!
