Hello, Elle!
The calculators were a success!
Had a nice time at Pine Cone.
I have no idea what the "dance captains" are supposed to do.
In the Riverdance troupe, for instance, the dance captains are members of the troupe, leaders of the dancers.
Proper captains.
I watched the women's skiing biathlon.
The rifles they used were amazing looking things.
Must be the latest technology, in very bright, garish colours.
That was a good spot by Malone, finding "your" word in the puzzle!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I am just back from another walk.
The afternoon brightened up and we had a little bit of sunshine, so I decided not to waste it!
I am glad you had a good time at the Pine Cone.
I thought Miss O would be pleased with the calculators!
As I see it , the dance captains on "The Greatest Dancer" will narrow down the number of acts that get through the audition stages (chosen by the audience) and then decide on whom they wish to mentor, before progressing to the live shows.
The show may improve, hopefully, once the acts are more stringently whittled down.
Yes, "nesh", "parky " and "poggy" are some of my favourite words!
I like to use them whenever the opportunity presents itself.
(Although the Oxford dictionary appears to think that "poggy" is a small arctic whale!)
Have you watched "The Voice" yet?

Hello, Elle!
The calculators were well received.
Next week it's pens.
Some of the children she teaches have no pen or pencil.
So, I'll add some pens to my shopping list.
The Greatest Dancer is not for me.
Only two acts were bearable, the rest seemed to improvise as they went along.
I tried The Voice, but it's a miss, for me.
I did not like any of the acts.
I know they did their best, but no real singers amongst them.
And I do not like the audience cheering while the acts are performing.
Let them sing, and then applaud!
I did not know that "poggy" was a whale!

Hi, Rusty!
You could probably buy some ballpoint pens in bulk very cheaply, from somewhere like Amazon......and then you could give one to each member of the class.
It is hard to envisage a child being sent to school without the requisite tools, like pen and pencil....and ruler and rubber, isn't it?
We perhaps do not always appreciate how fortunate we were as young children.
My parents did not have much money ...but I never wanted for any basic necessity.
I am sure my parents must have often made sacrifices so that I did not go without .
Retrospectively, I grew to see that I owed them a lot!
I am sorry that you did not enjoy "The Voice"....but folk do not always like the same things...and I guess it would be boring if they did......
Variety is the spice of life and all that jazz!
"Poggy" means "wet and muddy" in my vocabulary!

Hello, Elle!
I have Z-grip pens and Staedtler pencils and a pencil sharpener "saved" in my eBay Watch list.
I'll check ASDA stock first, before I order, though.
Their prices are pretty good, usually
I was surprised when my granddaughter told me about some of the children.
She has been supplying some stuff herself.
The thing is, Elle, she loves her job and her classes, so I am very happy to help them along a wee bit!
Brownie points for old Granddad, (the boy who hated school!)!
I just watched the acts on The Voice, but you are correct, Elle, be very boring if we all liked the same programmes!
I am a BGT fan, and you are not so keen!
Now, I am trying to find the order of play in the Aussie Open tomorrow.
Both EuroSport channels are showing it, and if it does turn out to be Andy Murray's last match, I'd like to see him bow out.
He has been a fine player.
I think Miss Sharapova, and Heather Watson, are on first, not playing each other, though.

Hi, Rusty!
Good for Miss O!
I think perhaps, Rusty, had you yourself had a teacher like Miss O, who obviously cares very much for her school children , their wellbeing, and their education, you might have enjoyed school better?
She is obviously doing a grand job!
Yes, help her out all you can!
Now....may I make one more small plug for "The Voice", before I leave you in peace on the subject?
You say you only watched the "acts"...... that is a great pity, because , for me, as I will have said before, half the enjoyment in the show is in the interaction between the coaches.
I like the way they respect each other.....and also bounce ideas/ opinions off each other.
You are missing all that, if you fast forward through it!!
I wish I could watch the Aussie Open.... I cannot find it on any of my TV channels?
EuroSport Player is trying it on again, and sending me numerous emails, trying to persuade me to rejoin!
I am sorry that Andy Murray may have to bow out of tennis.......
I never much liked the man, but would not have wished this for him.

Hello, Elle!
I think I had good teachers, Elle, but I was not interested in learning anything.
All my own fault!
I'll see how I get on at ASDA regarding pencils etc.
They have Staedtlers with erasers, and I think that's a good brand.
Miss O loves the young ones she teaches.
Her face lights up when she speaks about them!
She insisted on putting me on her class Twitter page followers..
Seems to be the modern way.
If she has anything to tell them about homework etc, she posts it on Twitter.
I hope not to get any homework from her!
I think BBC is showing highlights of the Aussie tennis next Saturday, but I do not see anything on Red Button.
Just EuroSport showing it.
I like Andy, and will be sad to see him go.
I was never keen on Nadal, but I like Federer and Djokovic.
I do not suppose Sloane Stephens is worth a wee bet!

Hi, Rusty!
Miss O is obviously very happy in her work, and definitely in the right profession!
Her care for the children will go a long way towards helping them to learn.....and to grow up into well-rounded individuals.
That is what education is all about - it is not just gaining academic qualifications, but, even more importantly, becoming well-adjusted people, able to fulfil their personal potential, whatever that might be.
Thanks for the low- down about the Australian Open.....
I've just looked in the Culture Times, which gives next Saturday 's programmes, and yes, you are quite right, BBC2 is showing an hour and a half of the Third Round matches.
I wonder does this mean that the BBC will go on to show the remainder of the tournament on the following days?
I do hope so!

Hello, Elle!
Miss O loves her job, and her pupils.
Her best pal became a teacher, too, but not at the same school.
She has her class Twitter page, too.
The BBC is broadcasting the Aussie tennis on Radio Five, but I would doubt that would interest you?
The live broadcasts on EuroSport start around midnight, with the time difference.
Andy Murray is due on court roughly about 7.00 a.m. UK time.
The following week they are showing highlights around teatime of the quarter-finals, and I presume, then the semis, and finals.
Sue Barker is hosting the programmes.
There is an awful lot of snooker on Red Button!

Hi, Rusty!
In days gone by(!) I did use to listen to the tennis on the radio!
But it takes quite a lot of concentration to "visually" follow the ball!
I much prefer nowadays simply to watch the game.
But it does sound as though I might get a reasonable opportunity to do so - the Highlights at least!
I have just been talking to my cousin.....she was late ringing me tonight, as she had been out to a birthday celebration.
She seemed to have enjoyed the occasion.
I wonder will my Collins dictionary arrive tomorrow ?
