Hello, Elle!
It is an excellent documentary.
Bill was some horse!
Yes, they are very expensive for used books, but they must be hard to come by, I'd say.
1d down is "stot"/tots.
I only ever heard of it in Aberdeen!
The other one is "panopticon", some kind of prison, apparently!
Pretty wild weather here, too!

Update, Elle.
14d, is an anagram of "appoint" plus "con"/study.

Good evening, Rusty!
I think they are new books, Rusty?
Not "used" ones?
Leastways, that is the impression I gained?
But even so, it is more money than I can afford to pay.
I shall keep an eye out to see if anything cheaper should appear.
I did not know "stot"..... it is a new word for me.
As is "panopticon".
I am learning new things today!
I found 11d an odd parsing, too?
I have "Lords Temporal" but it took me ages to see the "ral" bit!
I'm guessing the "overlapping" comes from "tempo" with "oral"?
I 've never come across that before.

Hello, Elle!
They are expensive even if new, Elle.
I knew "stot" but not "panopticon"
11d is odd.
"Lords" is the name of a cricket ground, in London, perhaps?
"tempo" is speed, leaving "ral", which must be part of "o-ral"/test.
That "ral" part of the clue does not please me
Overlapping? I think the setter should try a bit harder!
Tomorrow should be better with a Championship puzzle.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, that is how I'd parsed 11d, but very weird?
You are quite right, Lords is a cricket ground in St John's Wood.
Is it still wild and windy up your way?
We were supposed to have light snow degenerating into sleet this afternoon.... but if it happened, I didn't notice it!
Time to catch up on "Eggheads".....

I'm reading a novel set in the New York Guggenheim. Apparently the famous picture "Scream" is not someone screaming but someone listening to a loud scream. Well, I never!

Hi Rosalind
I think that Munch painted lots of vwrsions - I've seen it in Oslo.
Also it's not a bridge, it's a viewing platform.

Apparently 4 versions, chris. Not a bridge? Whatever is the world coming to?
The artist I dislike the most is Francis Bacon. I find his portraits completely horrible

Hello, Elle!
I agree, a slightly odd clue.
I have not came across one like that before.
Roll on tomorrow,
I have heard of Lords cricket ground.
Yes, less windy but still wet.
No sign of snow yet.
