Hello, Elle!
It is a fine day here!
I have completed my tasks for the day and have no plans other than to find out about several books that may interest me.
Will have a browse on Amazon.
Finished my puzzle earlier.
The nine puzzles used on Championship Final day will be published each Wednesday, starting November 14th.
Going visiting tomorrow morning, though.

Hi, Rusty!
I have had a pleasant morning!
I did a few household chores, and then settled down to do the crossword.
I had no sooner written in my first answer, when first one daughter, and then the other, rang for a long chat.
Crossword finished now though.
As is usual on a Saturday, I thought the puzzle much easier today.
All hopefully parsed correctly!
I have done the Jumbo GK too....
I did not know that there were such words as inutilily or unusefulness!
(It is rather than like being kempt, or combed, or couth.... only with a negative slant!)
But both words are in Chambers.
How is your book browsing going?

Hello, Elle!
You have done very well doing two crosswords!
These two words of yours are unknown to me.
I have looked at several books and have chosen one for my Christmas list.
"The Diary of a Bookseller" by Shaun Bythell.
It is set in Scotland's largest second hand book shop.
I may have look at more later.
See if I can find a list of decent non-fiction books to help me.

Hi, Rusty!
Well done on adding another book to your Christmas list!
I already have eight recent purchases piled up waiting for me to read them.........
I don't think I can justify buying more books for myself for Christmas?
(Can I?)
The title of your prospective new book sounds intriguing.....?
What is it about?
I must find out what all the grandchildren want for Christmas.....
I promise myself every year that I will shop in plenty of time....
And never do!
Right.....I must go and wash my hair.....

Hi, Rusty!
What are you up to?
I've been looking through my TV guide to see what programmes are on for Remembrance Day.
Have you ever read "Testament of Youth" by Vera Brittain?
It is the true story of her experiences during Word War One, and how, having gone through the war as a nurse on the frontline, she eventually became a pacifist.
I read that, and its sequel "Testament of Experience" a long time ago now.....
I think you might enjoy it?
Anyway, the purpose of all this is to tell you that there is a film based on "Testament of Youth" on BBC 2 tomorrow night.
I am going to record it.
I hope it will be good!

Btw, Shirley Williams is Vera Brittain's daughter.

Good evening, Elle!
I am not very long home!
I have been giving the young ones lifts this evening.
I do not like driving in the dark, but I did not tell them that!
Raining here.
I read Vera Brittain's book a few years ago, round about the time I first discovered Lyn MacDonald.
I liked it a lot, I remember.
I would not be keen on watching a film of it, I do not think.
But, no harm in me recording it and trying to watch it!
Strangely, you know, the book is in my mind for my Christmas list.
And Martin Middlebrook's "The First Day on The Somme", which I remember as being excellent.
Yes, I knew who Vera's daughter was, and I liked Shirley Williams!

Hi, Rusty!
That is very kind of you, ferrying your granddaughters about, especially as you do not like driving in the dark.
Do you need to pick them up again, later?
I am glad that you enjoyed "A Testament of Youth".
Yes, record the film and see if you like it.
I am doing so......but we may be disappointed if the veracity of the book is not reproduced.
I think I may have both books..."Testament of Experience", too, which is a continuation of Vera's life story.
(I may yet unearth them during my book sorting!)
Vera also wrote "Testament of Friendship" - pertaining to her friendship with Winifred Holtby.
I haven't read this last, so may add it to my own Christmas list!
It is raining hard here, too!

Hello, Elle!
No, the girls have other arrangements for getting home, though I brought La Bamba home, as she is working tomorrow.
I find that films last too long for me nowadays, so I will watch it in segments.
There are several books by, and about, Vera Brittain, on her Amazon page.
They may be of interest to you?
Still raining here!

Good morning, Rusty!
Still raining heavily here!
The plan was to go out early, so as to be back home when family members arrive around midday....but this is an absolute deluge!
Without a canoe and a paddle I am not venturing out......
How is it at your end?
Didn't you say you were off out visiting this morning?
It is a coffee and the Everyman for me, at the moment....

Good morning, Elle!
A fine morning here!
Hope it continues.
Yes, I am off to visit some of my family but hope to be home about lunchtime.
No puzzle for me today!
