for Elle and all dog owners . I am passing this on in case you are not aware. I have not personally heard of any cases in this area, but always better to be safe

Good evening, Elle!
Surely hooks would spoil the look of your doors?
B&Q would have hooks, and lampshades?
Yes, I go to Dunelms now and again.
I have been cleaning windows, then I went walking.
Been a fine day here, no need for a jacket!

Hi, Rusty!
The hooks I require fit temporarily over the top of the doors, giving added hanging space behind the doors.
Very useful when visitors come, or extra space is needed.
They can be taken down and stuck in a cupboard or drawer when not required.
I saw similar to what we wanted........but not the exact type.
(I'm looking for metal ones, rather than the plastic type we have now)
I'm wanting an uplighter lampshade - but haven't been able to find one I liked.
It has been warmish here, but not suitable to go out without a coat!
And most folks are still wearing their scarves!
You must either have it hotter than here...or come of hardier stock!!
Time for dinner...although I have been eating ginger thins......!

Thank you, Jazzy for the timely warning about Alabama Rot (CRGV).
I do in fact know of it, but there may well be other folk who do not.
A very good idea to put the warning up on here.

Hello, Elle!
Ah, those kind of hooks!
That is sensible
Try eBay or Amazon?
Lakeland?
Not just me with the bare arms, most folk I met were the same!
There is a report of an osprey at the Isle of May, in the River Forth, flying North!
Could this be our Laddie, I wonder!
Yes, a very good warning from Jazzgirl about that awful disease.
I had not heard of it!

Hello again Elle
If you check your town /area on the website mentioned in the article, there have been 7 or 8 cases reported within a 20 mile radius. I only heard of the latest threat on BBC news this morning. Years ago I remember there was a similar outbreak.

Hello, Elle!
Type "overdoor hooks" into eBay searchbox.
There are heaps of them!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I shall investigate online for the hooks..... thank you.
The plastic ones that I am looking to replace (preferably by metal ones) have one bit that fits over the top of the door, and then the appliance projects forward, with hanging space for about six items of clothing, one behind the other.
Is that making sense to you?
So far , I haven't seen any more like this- ---and unfortunately we cannot remember where we bought them.
Yes, the CRGV ( Cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy; aka Alabama Rot because it appears to be similar) is causing a lot of worry..
No vet seems to know the cause........
I am fairly well read up on this, and it does not appear that there is much one can except be vigilant .
Washing the dog down will do no harm...but there is apparently no guarantee, either , that it will do any good.
We have had it in the UK for several years, since 2012, and there is no vaccine for this, as no one knows the cause.
Symptoms of renal failure are the things to look out for...this is what is causing the deaths.
I'm washing my dog's feet and legs to be on the safe side...but not with any confidence that it would work.
Time for a coffee......... and maybe one or two ginger thins?

Hello, Elle!
There are almost 3,000 overdoor hooks on eBay, including ones from Ikea.
I would say they will have what you are after, going by your description.
Try Amazon, too.
It is strange that they do not know what causes the disease?
But, all you can do is be vigilant and thorough in your cleaning of the dog.
You have lost me with ginger thins!
I don't think they have crossed the Border yet!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, my search was successful!
I have ordered two over -hooks of the type I described to you.
They are plastic, though.
I haven't been able to find any metal ones of that design - but I expect I shall get reasonable wear out of these.
Our original ones lasted quite a long time before finally collapsing!
Surely you must have ginger thins?
They are simply what the name says...extremely thin ginger biscuits!

Hello, Elle!
No, not heard of these biscuits!
I do not think I would like thin biscuits.
I usually get shortie biscuits.
All the family like them.
That's good you found suitable hooks.
Online shopping is much better than visiting shops, I find.
And no queues!
