Good, Cerasus!
She is a remarkable solver to top The Crossword Club leaderboard!

Hello Rusty,

There are in fact three solvers who appear on this forum and who
are on the leader board.
What I don't quite understand is how anyone can solve AND type
a cryptic 15x15 in 1.39 minute!

Look at the stats for last Sunday Cryptic and the best time was
1.39 mns - Now, apart from the solving (and reading the clue in
the first place!), even given all the answers, I could not type them
in that time - and I am a fast touch typist!
Even if the solvers can just dictate to their computer, I hardly think
it feasible - logically, however cleaver they might be!

Hi, Rusty!
Oh, it is not going to stick...already the snow is changing to hailstones..... then I am sure it will rain .....!
But it was exciting whilst it lasted!!
Daughter has sent some photos of the boys at Alton Towers...some of the activities are outside ...and it is snowing there!
They look to be having a great time!
I always thought that SDL was a male!
Well done on painting your radiator!
It's totally irrelevant...but what colour did you paint it?!

Hello Elle,

I always thought so too Elle ! and I have always wondered about
the pseudo which makes me think more of number rather than
letter puzzle.... if I have the right person?

Hello, Pigale!
Hope you are well!
I did not notice the other forum regulars on the board.
That seems an incredibly fast time, Pigale?
I thought the top lads in the Championships took between 4 and 5 minutes per puzzle?
Yes, 1.39 mins takes a bit of believing, doesn't it.
I do not really understand the speed-solving attraction.
I prefer to "savour" the puzzle and I suppose I usually take between 20 minutes and an hour to solve one.

Hello, Elle!
White!
Seems to be quite a bit of snow about throughout the country.
No, she is a lady.
Actually, there is a regular poster on this Chatty thread who appears to know her.
So, Alton Towers is a success!
Be chilly there, I'd say!

Yes, I think you have , Pigale!
Definitely a number puzzle reference......
Least ways, I think you and I are at least singing from the same hymn sheet!
I am, though, harbouring the most uncharitable thought that - clever though indeed these solvers might be - some folk do need to get out more and get a life.......
But then of course, perhaps they cannot ...... I should be more tolerant and understanding
I shall go in the garden and eat worms......

Hello Elle and Rusty,

Glad to see we are on the same wavelength elle!
and glad too that you agree with me Rusty about the incredible
time for resolving a puzzle.
What gets me that it does take more than 1.39mns to READ
and understand all the clues!!!
To me, it is just not feasible, unless the 1.39 mn is just the
typing time - but then how long does it take them to SOLVE
the puzzle?

Anyway, I too prefer to take my time, and it is not only because
I need time, but I too want to get some enjoyment out of it

Hi, Rusty!
All our radiators are white, too, Rusty!
A good colour!
One of our builders once told us that radiators can be painted either with enamel paint...or with just ordinary emulsion?
I've never tried either...as we had new radiators altogether, when we replaced the central heating boiler.
A lot of the youngsters' activities at Alton Towers this weekend were held indoors, judging from the pics?
The family should be arriving home soon...no text received as yet, though.........

Hello, Pigale!
Harking back to crossword timings...... these surely do not include parsing times , too? That would be well nigh impossible!
I do not think that "parsing "is included in "solving" time, from what I can gather?
I find this weird..... to me - as probably to you - a puzzle is not "completed". unless it is parsed satisfactorily?

Hello, Elle!
I used emulsion that I found in a cupboard.
If I may intrude on your post to Pigale.
These competition folks are racing against the clock to finish, so it is most unlikely they are parsing as they go.
Mere mortals like us take time and hopefully parse as we go.
I do, anyway.
It is the fastest correct entries that win.
Nothing to do with parsing.
