Hello, Elle!
Ah, I see!
I bet you do most of the talking?
I hope to see a bit of the Olympics tomorrow.
It is the women's Giant Slalom tomorrow, wind permitting.
No Lindsey Vonn, but there is another top American in Mikaela Shiffrin.
I think Viktoria Rebensburg is favourite.
Should be great racing!

Hi, Rusty!
Now I will admit to getting carried away on occasions....but usually only if I become seriously concerned about something.......
Normally, there is such a wide range of topics up for discussion, and such a varying group of individuals to hold forth on them, that the talk is well balanced between us all.
It is good fun........and livens up our morning perambulations!
You sound to have a good programme ahead of you, sportswise, tomorrow.

Good morning, Elle!
Hope your walking and talking is going well!
Frosty here!
The women's Giant Slalom has been postponed due to high winds!
Been put back until Thursday.
A bit disappointing after the men's Downhill postponement.
But, if it's too dangerous, it's too dangerous!
Sensible decision.

Good morning, Rusty!
Yes, I had a great walk!
It is a lovely day here...... blue sky, sunshine , very frosty.....only minus 1 when I first went out...
But said to reach 6C later on.
So it will be warmer on our second outing after lunch.
That is a pity about another postponement in the Games, but, as you say, a sensible decision under the circumstances.
I assume that time is allowed in the curriculum for delays such as these?
I have just printed out the crosswords, so will make a start whilst having my first coffee of the day........plus my apple.......

Hello, Elle!
A fine day here, too!
I hope there is time for running these events later in the week.
It may well cause problems (it definitely will cause problems!) for the skiers who are entered in several events.
Not ideal for resting etc, but skiers are tough cookies.
They'll get on with it!
Just finished my puzzle.
Fairly straightforward, I thought?

Hi, Rusty!
I have had a visitor this morning.
Remember the lady who came before.......the mother of the young man who bought the next door house?
Well, she came to visit me again today!
I think she is determined to persuade her son to move in next door, once the renovations have been finished!
Yes, I thought the crossword was a fairly easy one today?
Although having said that, there are two clues I cannot do...and two for which I have answers, but cannot parse.
10a: Half the rally place advert for passengers (7)
C?R?OAD
Maybe "carload"?
but I cannot parse beyond "carload" = passengers
ad - advert
25a: Ancient religion's home is in Jamaica (7)
J?I?I?M
No ideas on this one! I am stuck?

Hello, Elle!
She seems a nice lady.
Did you invite her in for a coffee and a sticky bun?
"Monte Carlo" is a well known rally.
Dump the "Monte" and away you go!
25. Jamaica is "Jam"
Home is "in"
"Is" is in clue.
"Jainism" is a old religion, possibly?

Jainism is a sect of Hinduism, I believe. Its adherents brush the road in front of where they are walking so they do not tread on insects and kill them.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, she seems a very nice person......she only lives locally, so seems to like popping round!
I would never have got those two clues........ my mind was nowhere near the right reasoning!
Thank you for your help!
I have in fact done three crosswords this morning....the QC and the Times2, also.
Brain power functioning reasonably......!
I am away out now for a walk ....
Still lovely here!

Thank you, Ros....I had never heard of Jainism before.

elle- I've read so many novels set in India I have come across them more than once. I now see that it is a religion in its own right, not a form of any other. They practice total non-violence to any other being, truthfulness, not stealing, non-attachment to things and (as I understand it) internal bad feelings like greed.
