Well, Rusty, in this case, I think there might be a lot of
instinctive answers - almost guess work - which happens to be
right! but to me no parsing equals crossword unfinished - as
both you and Elle say.

Hi, Rusty!
You are not intruding!
I am not experienced enough here to offer objective criticism - that would be presumptuous.
But, in my humble opinion, just providing an answer to a crossword is not sufficient?
Can I just whisper here that I am not impressed with this racing against the clock?
Often it is easy enough to provide an answer, but if I were the "examiner", I would expect the "i"s dotted and the "t"s crossed - in other words, a full parse!
Whoever achieved that, would be the person to acclaim!

Elle, I never ever compete against the clock - but I don't always parse my answers at the time of solving! Most times - say 95% - I could parse them if asked. Those speedy solvers might well be able to parse every single one of their answers- does anyone ever ask them?

I think that is immaterial, and you are missing the point here, Malone?
I don't think any of us is disputing whether or not the "speediest solvers" can actually parse their answers...just that said parses should be given as part of the competition?

Hi, Rusty!
I have just finished talking to my cousin.
They have snow up north.
All are well though, and fully recovered from their coughs and colds of last week.
Half term has just started, so she will be kept busy helping out with her grand children this week.
They are both 11, coming up 12, though, so it is not all that much hard work.
I have just arranged to go out early in the morning with the dog!
I really like to get up and about out in the mornings - an early walk at 7.45am suits me well!
And it will be nice to see everyone and catch up with the "news" in person - although I have been kept up- to- date by phone calls during my "absence"!
I am just hoping it will not be TOO cold!

Hello, Elle!
Quite a bit of snow about, but none here.
Standing gossiping in the cold is not a good idea!
It's minus 2 here just now.
Quite cold enough!
How's you and Pippa Passes getting on?

Hi, Rusty!
Ah no, you have quite the wrong idea about the dog walking!
This is serious walking!
We easily cover several miles during the walks....... usually the same folk are about...there will be different groupings, yes...and different speeds of walking depending on age, fitness ability etc.....not just based on the humans, but on the canines, too!
Any "talking" most definitely takes place on the move!
We have woods/ fields / lakes /paths...........
One needs plenty of breath - to multi- task...as in walking and talking at the same time!
The dogs are well exercised - as are we - and the World is set to rights!
