Hi, Rusty!
Good to hear from you.......
I was wondering whether all was well.
What was the reason for the lack of power in your kitchen?
Was it a local fault - caused by the storm? - or something peculiar to you personally?
It is a good job your son is on hand to help solve the problem!
I guess I am ahead of you then today, as I have finished both the 15 x15 and the QC.
Nothing left outstanding!
The QC bears a personalised clue for you.....
"A bit rusty, like a retired GP?" (3,2,8)
I may not get out again , myself........I am awaiting the BG engineer, who will arrive somewhere between 12 and 6 pm.

Hello, Elle!
So, I am "peculiar personally"?
Goodness!
No idea what caused the electric "trip".
My son was the last to use the kitchen last night.
He used my electric kettle to make coffee.
But no power this morning.
Every thing else was working, lighting circuit, vacuum cleaner, tv, etc in various rooms.
The kitchen is relatively new, with its own new electrics, so maybe it is more sensitive than the old trip switches.
All fine now, anyway!
"Out of practice"?
Hope your engineer turns up!

Hi, Rusty!
No sign as yet of any British Gas personnel!
Only about an hour to go........I am beginning to wonder if he is coming.....
Yet a BG official rang earlier in the week to confirm, and "remind" me of the appointment.
Now.....I used the word "peculiar" in the sense of "belonging exclusively to"!
(I was not referring to any oddities you might have?!)
Yes, we have some of our electrics on different circuits.
The trip switches do seem to be sensitive, especially if a light bulb goes.
It is very dark out now - almost like the middle of the night.....
I am unsure whether this is a severe weather sign?
Where is that dratted BG engineer....?
I need fortifying with a (strong) coffee.......

Update, Rusty!
No BG engineer!
Instead, I received a phone call at 6.10 pm from the office, informing me he was too busy to come, and wishing to reschedule!
Now not coming till the 19th!
Grrrh!

That is really aggravating , elle. Another 11 days to wait, plus if you had had to take leave you would be fuming. Not good at all.
I escaped having root canal treatment but was still in the dentist's chair for an hour and a half this morning! It took a while to get the old crown off and sort out the neglected decay. All well now, with Ibuprofen. I like my new dentist!
I feel like watching TV but nothing on, being Friday. perhaps time to actually play a DVD if I can remember how.

Hi, Ros!
I'm glad you got on all right at the dentist's!
Good that you didn't have to have the root canal treatment !
Is your dentist going to fit you with a new crown?
When do you have to go back for that?

Good evening, Elle!
BG deserves a rocket for poor service!
Too busy is a poor unacceptable excuse, in my book.
And to make you wait until the 19th!
Poor service, Elle!
I would kick up holy Hell, if I were you.
I get my boiler and rads serviced by a local company (cheaper than Scottish Gas) and they are very good!
It is very cold here!

Hi, Rusty!
I was certainly annoyed at having stayed in all afternoon for nothing!
But in all fairness, I was first offered this coming Monday morning as the next "free" appointment.
I couldn't take it as the dog has a vet appointment.
The next appointment was then the 19th.
We are listed with Home Care as being granted "emergency" treatment, if we deem it necessary because of my husband's lung condition.
But as all bar one of our radiators is working, I couldn't see that this warranted an emergency visit (this would have entailed cancelling one of their other calls)
The other two faulty thermostat valves are jammed, but in an "on" position, so we do get warmth from these radiators (altho' we cannot adjust them) when the C/heating is switched on.
We can wait till the 19th, as some other poor folk on their list are without any heat at all!
(And if the situation does change , I can then call them...)
I bartered for a three hour call slot and at the time I chose!
Cold here, too...but from the forecast , somewhat warmer than with you!

Hello, Elle!
If you are content with BG that's fine.
At least you have heating.
There will be cold weather for another few days.
