Hello, Elle,
My take on it is the setter is saying that if, say, you pass someone when out walking, and they nod to you, they are a "nodder"?
19, Something attractive "pulls", heartless "pu(l)ls.
So, we have "puls" with "a", in clue, and "R" for Queen.
Pulsar. Apparently, it is a "pulsating star".
Yes, I must be on Emma's list, too.
I had a look at the Loch earlier. Quite windy.
Our bridge is closed to double decked buses just now.
Feel sorry for the passengers!
I had fish pie for my tea!

Hi, Rusty!
Thank you for explaining "pulsar"......
Yes, I can see it now that you have spelt it out........but would never have got it by myself.
I didn't even get around to doing the easier QC today.
I have had a well-occupied, but itsy -bitsy, day.....done a lot of minor jobs.......
And at least some overdue correspondence is now sorted.
And tomorrow I am going out for lunch!
We have not fully resurrected our version of "Ladies Who Lunch", but two of us are meeting up and having lunch tomorrow!
It will be nice to catch up!

Hello, Elle!
There was a time when I would never have got "pulsar" either, but you gain experience and most days you learn something new, doing puzzles.
I always asked the lads at work for advice on solving puzzles when I started.
(No help forums way back then!)
You will be the same!
That's good you are lunching tomorrow!
I have no plans, as yet, but will keep an eye on the weather.

Hi, Rusty!
You make a good point about the weather.
The friend with whom I am having lunch is driving up from Essex.
Whereas I think here, in the South East, we are (supposedly) fairly safe tomorrow in expecting to avoid the worst of Storm Caroline, it is set to become much colder and icier by evening.
I was surprised that she planned to come up, but she was adamant about so doing, when she texted earlier.
However, if the weather worsens, she can always stay overnight with us.
(We always have beds made up!)
We shall see what tomorrow brings!
I hope you will not be too badly affected up your way?
It sounds as though northern England and mainly Scotland will be badly hit by snow and strong winds?
I saw a picture of workmen weighting down signs on the Forth Bridge.

Hello, Elle!
Yes, the forecast does not think you folks in the South will get too much weather.
They are anticipating floods downtown when the tide is high.
A lot of work has been done over the years on storm drains and sewers etc to prevent flooding.
Heavy rain and a high tide are bad news!
We will get high winds and maybe snow.
It is quite windy just now.
We have warnings in place for snow and ice after Sweet Caroline passes.
And very cold all next week.
I think Summer has passed.
Not a very cheery post, Elle, I'm afraid!

Hi, Rusty!
You are wise to keep an eye on the weather.........
Should you need to venture out, then be very careful underfoot - the pavements and roads might well be very slippy.
Make sure you wear your snow thingummies!
Or should I call them "doobries"?
(Was that the word?)
But best to remain indoors if you can?
I think we have heavy rain forecast for several hours tomorrow.......the drastic temperature drop here is due on Friday.
We have the BG engineer coming Friday afternoon to fix our faulty radiator thermostats.
We shall certainly be needing them to function efficiently!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, must take care in the bad weather!
I do not think I will need the ice grips just yet, but the temperature is going to be low for a week or two.
I hope to go for my paper in the morning and have no other plans for the outdoors!
Your BG engineer is coming at the right time!
I have had my heating on for some time now.
Not all the time, but certainly first thing in the morning and off and on during the day.

Good evening Elle and Rusty!

Hope you are both well, and most of all, I hope you will not
have to face any problems with the extreme weather conditions
Rusty.

Here is a calm 1C with some slight southern wind.

One very distressing news for me and the rest of France -
Johnny Halliday, our French Elvis, died last night, aged 74.

Johnny was suffering from Lung Cancer, He was seen in public
early September at a French actress funerals.

It's all my youth that has gone, he was a star for well over 55 years
and I was one of his fan all this time;
There is a strong possibility that he will have National Funerals,
Macron hinted at this, but details are to be organised with the
family.
I reckon the whole of France will be off work on that day! I am
not sure you can understand how popular he was, and with
several generations! For even the youngsters today still like him.

Hello, Pigale!
Weather OK so far, Pigale!
Yes, sad news about Johnny Halliday.
A French legend!
And he may have a National Funeral?
That is a great honour, indeed!
I would imagine French TV may broadcast the funeral?
I read that Brigitte Bardot said she was "in shock".
R.I.P. Johnny.

the police force re security! particularly since Emmanuel and Brigitte
Macron intend to attend the funerals, as well as other members of
the Government!!!
