Hi, Rusty!
Hi, Rusty!
Thank you for the links.
You did well - both of them work fine!
Very interesting!
I shall have to listen to the one explaining the &Lit clues again, though.........
I understood the first examples....but then got a bit bogged down with the later ones....
I shall take another look after I have had dinner.
I probably need to copy out the examples and study them again at leisure?
I think that would be a sensible route to follow?
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to find the link for me!
It is very kind of you.
Did the horse that you wanted to follow actually win?

Hello, Elle!
Everything you want to know about clues etc can be found on YouTube.
I liked the second one about Araucaria.
Yes, browse away on You Tube, there are many crossword videos there.
I was wanting to see my horse run but... she came over from Ireland and was a non-runner.
I do not know why.
Her name is "Happily".
Miss La Bamba was on holiday today!

Hey, Rusty!
A pity about your horse........
We used to have a rabbit whom we called "Happy".
She was a small brown dwarf rabbit, hence her name.
We called her after one of Snow White's Seven Dwarfs!
She lived to be thirteen - a good age for a rabbit!
Our other rabbit was a big New Zealand White, named "Miffy" after Dick Bruno's rabbit!
Did you ever read the book to your children / grandchildren ?
You will see Miss L-B tomorrow anyway , won't you?
You are all going to the Pine Cone?
What happened about Miss O'H - is she accompanying you, too?
Speaking of granddaughters........have you heard from Miss O?
Is she enjoying her holiday?

Hello, Elle!
I have fixed my bike!
I fitted new ball bearings and it is fine now.
I have no idea why Happily did not run.
She maybe did not travel over too well.
I'll find out later.
Dick Bruno is new to me, Elle.
Miss O'H is going to the orthodontist and Miss La Bamba is getting her nails done.
So, my grandson and his big sis, Miss ATW, are going tomorrow, and La Bamba and me on Sunday.
Miss O says her time in California is "great!"
Think she comes home on Sunday.

Hi, Rusty!
Well done on mending your bike!
Do you still ride it?
Only you have never mentioned it before?
I always fancied having a trike!
A mate had one, when he was a local curate, and I thought it was a great method of transport!
I could just envisage myself cycling (or should that be "triking" ) up to the park, with the dog on board!
I had forgotten that Miss L-B was having her nails done in the morning, and that you and she were going on Sunday instead!
That has its advantages...two days out instead of the one!
I expect that Miss O has to be back at school on Monday?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, I do ride my bike but rarely.
I do not like the traffic on the roads.
Big change from when I was a lad.
I think it is much more dangerous nowadays.
Happily had a temperature this morning, that was why she did not run.
Two days out is two days paying out for me!
No advantage there!
Miss O has another week off, I think.

Good morning, Rusty!
A lovely sunny day here, and also on the mild side.
I think these warmer temperatures are in connection with the hurricane supposedly heading our way.
Yes, I think you are right.......Scottish schools do have a fortnight's half term in October?
I think I remember our Scottish relatives saying that Matthew would have two weeks.
But here the State schools only have a week, whereas the private/ Independent schools have a fortnight's holiday.
We were out in good time walking this morning, and beat all the runners!
What time are you going out to the Pine Cone?
I hope you all have a good time!

Good morning, Elle!
A bit chilly here when I was out!
I think your forecast is for warm weather (but not us!)
We are forecasted to have power cuts next week.
There is bad weather approaching Ireland and then the UK.
I do not know about the rest of Scotland but our schools close for two weeks.
When I was at the school it was called the "tattie holidays".
The schools got off to pick potatoes in the farms around here.
It was a welcome source of income for many families.
All quiet on the Pine Cone front!
Maybe they have forgotten me!
I had a quick glance at my puzzle.
1A is a great clue.
Well done, setter!

Hi, Rusty!
I am wondering whether you have returned home?
Most probably you are still out at the Pine Cone......
I have finished - bar three parsings - today's Cryptic!
As usual with whomever is Saturday's setter, I found it a good puzzle.
I won't go into detail in case you have not had the time to finish yours, with going out.........but I especially liked 1d, 10a, 13d and 21a
I shall struggle on for a while - off and on! - with the three that I cannot parse!
I mustn't give in too easily!
Time to do the Jumbo GK..........
Beautiful here now....deep blue sky, bright sunshine..... and feels as though the temperature is not much short of 20C.......

Hello, Elle!
Just a few minutes home.
Had a nice time!
Well done, with your puzzle!
I have finished mine, too.
Take a wee break from your parsing, then go back.
Took me a while to nail the parse on 13d!
Some very good clues today, I think.
Great day here, but not warm, so it's not!
