Hello, Elle!
You have parsed "synapse" like I did.
I just did not know that a synapse was a space.
I read it as a "junction", so was not sure.
Latimer and Ridley were burned at Oxford.
It is mentioned in Chesapeake.

"Play the man, Master Ridley: we shall light this day such a candle,
by God's grace, in England,
as I trust shall never be put out."

Yes, 29, is a great clue!
Well done, setter!

Hi, Rusty!
We have decided to go out for dinner this evening!
It is not often that the opportunity arises to take out our daughter...........
Usually the boys are with us, and then the choice of eating places is limited to their tastes.
Plus there are children's bedtimes to be observed!
So whilst there are only the three of us, we shall dine out in luxury!
We have booked a table for 7 pm .
We shall need to leave in about an hour.
I am really looking forward to it!

Hello, Elle!
I hope you all liked your dinner!
I had cheesy chips for my tea.
I am having a quiet Saturday evening browsing YouTube.

Hi, Rusty!
We are home again!
Yes, dinner was great, thank you!
We all enjoyed our meals.
I had veal with lemon sauce and capers!
Delicious!
What did you discover on YouTube?
You usually manage to come up with something interesting?

Hello, Elle!
I do not know "capers"?
I had a look at a few different things on YouTube.
Some great videos of Danny MacAskill, then I watched Sea Bird winning the Derby and Arc in 1965.
And there were several clips on Eileen Nearne which interested me.
And, took a trip to the deepest gold mine in the world.
Over two miles down!
There was a couple of interesting videos on osteopathy, too.
Then I watched Amira and Patrizio Buanne singing "O Sole Mio".
So, quite a pleasant evening for me.

Good morning, Rusty!
It is a dreich one here!
No early morning walk today, as we are all going out together later on - probably midday(ish)
Capers?
I think they are edible flower buds that can be eaten raw or cooked, but are often served pickled?
The ones I had were sliced, and spread over the veal. Very tasty!
Ah, now I have heard of Eileen Nearne...... a British spy in WWII, working as a radio operator in France.
I don't know Danny MacAskill?
Only the animals and I are up ...so I am going to have a coffee and look at the Everyman!
What time are you and Miss L-B heading off to the Pine Cone?

Good morning, Elle!
Capers are completely new to me!
Danny is a stunt cyclist (absolutely brilliant).
He is a Skye man and lots of his stunts are done on the Cuillins.
I am meeting the young one at 12.
If you have a spare moment, head over to YouTube.
I watched some interviews with well known crossword setters.
John Graham, "Araucaria" of the Guardian, and John Halpern, "Paul" of the Guardian.
There are any amount of The Times puzzles there, with the setters explaining them.
The one i watched was in the paper a couple of days ago.
And it was explained why an obsolete word, "thimblerig" was there.
Always learning!
Worth a wee browse!

Hello, Jazzgirl!
That's the one I watched!
I enjoyed it.
There are "loads" on crosswords on YouTube.
The interviews with Araucaria and "Paul" are entertaining too, I thought.
