Yes, thanks all. I was on tenterhooks (I do know where that comes from!! or I think I do) but everything seems fine and they expect to discharge him tomorrow. He was/is very, very hungry but otherwise fine. Lucky that he lives in a place and time where there are doctors and anaethetists to fix him, and he has only had to be hungry for a short time.
Yes I hope to visit tomorrow to sign the plaster! And take some goodies.

Do they have a "Found Department"?
I agree that family is far more important than money.

I rather think that we have been advised to "email" our local police, these days, rather than phone them...or drop in.....
Ludicrous , isn't it?
But, no, neither of us thought to do that!
I would not hold out much hope that the wallet will have been handed in!
Call me a pessimist...or maybe a realist?

Would do no harm to call in to your local police station and ask if your husband's wallet was found.
The person on the reception desk will tell you who you see, etc.
I know here we used to have a "Lost and Found" Department, but somewhere along the way, "Lost" was lost, and it is now the "Found Department".

Some people do hand stuff into the police, though I suspect the wallet would be empty.
Once I found a lovely owl brooch in three colours of gold with ruby eyes. I took it to the police station and was told if not claimed in 3 months I could have it. No-one ever did claim it.

About 20 years ago, I found a gent's gold curb bracelet in one of the car parks by the Thames. I handed it in to the nearest police station (about 3 miles away then) and they gave me a receipt. Same as you, they said I could have it if not claimed within 3 months. No one came forward. I still have the bracelet and this latest incident has reminded me that I must sell it and give the proceeds to the hospice who looked after my husband ( I am nervous of entering the shops where they buy gold)
I have handed in several bunches of keys, and spectacles , found when walking in the local park.
