Hi, Rusty!
Still raining.......
I have been joined now by my daughter......and my husband is awake!
I think younger daughter woke him when she rang - there is a phone on the top landing, right outside our bedroom door!
At least everyone will soon be mobile!
(Dog is ready for her walk)
I shall seek out those interviews when I get the chance - they do sound interesting.
"Everyman" done and dusted - a nice one today.
No problems.
We have been discussing Christmas plans!

Goodness, Elle!
It is not near Christmas surely!
Hope you enjoy your walk!
Yes, have a wee nosey at YouTube.
Some great stuff on it.
Jazzgirl's link is very good, to me, anyway.
I often wondered why John Halpern chose the name "Paul" when setting for the Guardian.
His brother was called Paul and was killed in a car accident.
Wonder if that was why he chose that name?
He has a terrible taste in ties, though!
Fairly wet up here.
A dreich start to October!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah yes, I had forgotten it was the first day of October....
Did you remember to say "White Rabbits" out loud, three times, first thing this morning?
With sections of family living some distance away now......Christmas is not the easy situation it once was!
Folk need to travel.....and stay.....and of course "take turns" with whom one spends the Big Day!
Then there is New Year's Day to sort out..... as this is also my husband's birthday, that too has great family importance!
So you see, we do all need to "make plans" ahead!
We are going out shortly......
As will you be, with Miss L-B......
Enjoy your outing to the Pine Cone!
Talk later!

Hi, Rusty!
A very damp afternoon........although most of our walk passed without us getting too wet!
( And at least there were not many picnickers about to entice the dog!)
How was your outing with Miss La Bamba?
I have been exploring on Youtube, as you recommended .......
I have just watched /listened to John Halpern - talking at the Albert Hall. - about cryptic crosswords.
How very clever and fascinating...and yes, the way he spoke about losing his brother, I am fairly sure that he meant to imply that is why he used the name "Paul" as one of his pseudonyms?
And I found another Youtube link about John Graham (aka "Araucaria") where he talks of telling people (the general public) about his terminal cancer, through writing a series of crossword clues.
Is this the interview that you yourself watched?
You do find some interesting links!

Hello, Elle!
It is a lovely evening with me but strong winds forecast.
Miss La Bamba and me had a very nice time.
No, I watched another Araucaria interview.
But, I do remember the crosswords about his illness.
Did you know the reason he became a setter?
He was a C of E vicar, and his wife and he divorced.
He lost his job because of that, and turned to crossword puzzle setting to earn a living.
I remember doing one of his puzzles, and was a bit annoyed because around 6 of the answers were the names of very obscure towns/villages in England.
Really tricky!
It turned out that these places were RAF stations that he had served at during the war!
He was a very good setter indeed.
I have looked at nothing exciting on YouTube today.
Just a couple of videos on Warren Buffett, the Sage of Omaha.
Another hero of mine!

Hi, Rusty!
We have only just finished dinner.........
We sat talking for a long time.
I remembered (very belatedly) about ringing my cousin!
It should have been my turn to phone.
Instead I texted her to explain that our daughter is unexpectedly here......and to postpone our hour -long chat to another evening!
She is fine about that!
I do not know of Warren Buffet?
Why is he the Sage of Omaha?

Hello, Elle!
That was sensible texting your cousin.
The wind is rising here.
Quite a gale outside!
I am surprised you do not know of Warren Buffett.
He is in the top five richest men in the world.
A multi billionaire.
He is also known as the "Wizard" or "Oracle" of Omaha.
He is chairman of Berkshire Hathaway who own huge lumps of Apple and Coca Cola and many other companies.
The Coca Cola that sells in China has Warren's face on the can.
Also a great philanthropist.
Gives away over 90% of his wealth through the Gates Foundation.
He started out with nothing.
A very astute man!

Hey, Rusty!
We heard on the radio that Scotland was going to have strong winds.........
The rain has stopped here and the wind - never all that gusty - seems to have died down.
Our daughter is going home tomorrow morning.
She will probably wait out the rush hour, though, before driving back up to The Midlands.
Their dad is taking the boys to school.
It has given her a break, and we have been delighted to see her!
She and our grandsons will be staying here for the October half-term, so not long, this time, before we shall see her again!
I shall have to make plans for us all to get together...it is good for the cousins to meet up.
I forgot to tell you......my Omnibus arrived from Amazon yesterday.
I am very pleased with it.
Three "books" in the one volume...and all for 1p!
Excellent condition, too!

Hi, Rusty!
I hope all is well?
It is unusual not to hear from you.......
And I know the weather is very bad up your way.......
The news on my computer is telling me of fallen trees on roads in Dundee.
I hope you are just "busy", rather than having problems?
