Hello, Elle!
I found it in the small print in one of the headings at the bottom of the website.
No harm in firing off a letter to them!
A little bit of effort and a first class stamp won't harm you!
It is a pity the women's semis are on so late.
I would have liked to see Coco and Sloane.
My pies are in the refrigerator.
I do not know what fills them.
I am just pleased to have them.

First on the agenda, is coffee, apple and cheese...and the crosswords.....
An then I shall write (as in type) some letters.

Good morning, Elle!
It has turned into a fine morning here.
I have no plans for today.
Though I have ordered a book.
"Alone in the Wilderness" by Mike Tomkies.
Remember Mike and Moobli?
This is about his time in British Columbia.
It is out of print and second hand copies are expensive but I managed to find a "normally" priced one from World of Books.
So, that was pleasing!

PS, Elle.
The US Open final is between Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys.
So, a new winner in the offing.
And they are close friends!

PPS.
Elle, if you go on to BBC Scotland website there are some photographs of the Northern Lights taken during the night.
One very good one at the new Queensferry Crossing across the River Forth...and one over Dundee!

Hi, Rusty!
I have just been looking at the photographs taken of the Northern Lights.
Aren't they a beautiful sight?
Such incredible colours!
It is a pity that we are too far south to see them in actuality.
Yes, I do indeed remember Moobli!
I think that was my first introduction to a "used" book?
Speaking of which, I shall browse Amazon later....
I need to stock up on reading material again.
I may look to see which of my favourite authors have recent books out.
I have some money in my Amazon account at the moment!
(This stops me from feeling guilty at buying so many books!)
Your mention of the tennis has reminded ....... my first letter today will be to E. P. !

Hello, Elle!
The Lights are super, aren't they!
I shall have a look again tonight, clouds permitting!
Yes, unfortunately, London is a bit too far South to see them, and probably too "lighty".
Best watched out in the country away from city lights.
Yes, get writing to EP.
They have proven to be a useless bunch!
I hope Sloane wins, but I think she will be the underdog.
Puzzle complete.
7d and 15a are new to me.
Quite a good puzzle today!

Hi, Rusty!
Uhm... well, we are about ten miles further south from Central London, so do not really have any city lights around us.......
I am thinking that Crystal Palace Park might be a good high vantage point from which to view such a phenomenon, but I still think we are way too far south for the Northern Lights, ....... so probably not worth the journey?
I enjoyed seeing the pics though!
Yes, I have done my puzzle, too!
Save for 14a; I have ?R?T
I cannot see this, I am afraid?
My favourites were 9a; 23a; 26a; and 19d.
They were the clues that best appealed to me.
Right, now to draft my letter to EP!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, I knew you were not in Central London and did wonder if it would be lighty.
As dark as possible is best for watching the Lights.
I think they can be seen as far South as the Midlands given optimum conditions.
14a, is an old word now,. "Trot(h)".
"To plight one's troth".
Troth meant loyalty, and the left winger was Trotsky.
A Left winger can be known as a Trot.
Remove "h" for hard, from troth.
Your favourites are all very good.
I had forgotten Ben Gunn, and I did not know the first name of Degas.
A good puzzle, I thought!

Hi, Rusty!
Thank you for the explanation for 14a.
I would never have got that in a month of Sundays!
( Now where did that expression come from?)
Right, now, update!
Karin (vet) has phoned me......she has received the biopsy results from the specialist laboratory.
She was on the phone to me for a long time, and totally stunned me with medical terminology!
But the upshot is that the cat has a condition causing inflammation of the whole bile system - that is liver, pancreas and gall bladder.
She mentioned various medical terms, but they went over my head....but we shall discuss them all next Wednesday when we see her in person - that will be much easier!
The condition may be bacterial or auto-immune, but that appears undecided as yet.
He is to have a course of steroid injections and then more blood tests to monitor the situation.
I think we are to be shown diagrams etc., so hopefully all will become clearer eventually!
I've asked for some relevant reading references , too.
The disease sounds controllable, and the cat will not be suffering in any way.
Not for the foreseeable future anyway, all being well.
So we shall play it by ear and see how it all goes.......
