Hi, Rusty!
My day is going reasonably well, all things considered.
I was pleased that Karin (our regular vet) upheld my decision not to bring my cat home yesterday, as the weekend on call vet had wanted us to do.
I refused to bring him, as he was running a temperature; instead I made an appointment to see Karin today, to discuss the situation.
Cat is best in the vets until Karin herself gives the okay for him to come home.
I have every faith in her - she is great!
What make of vacuum cleaner are you going to buy?
I have a Dyson; I'm very pleased with it.
I do not know if 16d should be "minor" or "major" canon?
I cannot finish 14a, so do not know if the second letter of 16d will be an "i" or an "a"!
I have "filo" for 18a and "doper" for 22d? these seem fine to me?
What didn't you like about them?
I am stuck on 1d and 28a which interlock?
Can you help, please?
The DL today is only a repeat of Saturday's highlights in Brussels.

Hello, Elle.
Yes, go with Karin's advice.
You trust her and that is important!
Dyson machines are too dear for me, Elle.
I am a down market man.
ASDA has an own brand for £25.
That will do me fine.
I had never heard of "filo". I had to find it in Chambers through guesswork.
And I would not have thought a doper was a "dealer" but a "user".
Chambers disagreed though!
Way back in the sixties, if something was "cool", it was "out of sight, man". But the "shade" bit perplexes me?
That would give you Minorca.
1d is an anagram of "western" and semi "co"ld.
The leaders office could be a "Presidency", does that give you a great help?

Elle,
Miss La Bamba's photo is in the local paper for coming third in the "Baking a Dundee Cake" competition!

Hi, Rusty!
I have never heard the expression "out of sight, man"!
Maybe I was never "cool" enough?!
Now, for "shade"?
Could there be a term "out of light", perhaps?
It doesn't really seem likely, though, does it?
Sorry, I made a mistake...1d was a typo...I had already done that one (sweetcorn).
I meant 21d which crosses with 28a!
Yes, I see 28a; remove "p" (piano) from presidency.....residency
That gives me ?R?E?D for 21d........
"friend" = mate (def)
Fri end.
I don't much like it........
I tried getting "The Courier" up on Google, but couldn't find Miss L-B's photo?

Hello, Elle,
It is in the pull out, "Flower and Food Festival", back page.
I have not looked on line, but that is where it is in the paper.
Pigale seems to have found it.
I associate "out of sight" with Mick Jagger.
Maybe a line from a Stones song?
Quite a good puzzle, I thought!

Hello, Pigale!
Thank you for the kind words about my granddaughter!
I have more like her, here!
They keep me on my toes!

Hello Elle,

We are having a very nice spell weatherwise at present - 25C today -
sometimes coolish in evenings, at night and very first thing in the
morning, rather normal for September.

My two little monsters are doing fine! I might be taking them to
the vet on Thursday afternoon if I can get an appointment at a
time convenient to my friend; She has been rather busy lately,
hence the delay.
If not Thursday, then it will have to be next week
since she works all day both Fridays and Saturdays (rather long
days considering she starts at 5 or 6 am!

Like you, I am looking forward to the biopsy results for yours!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, thank you.........yes, I have found her!
A beautiful girl!
Do the sisters and their cousins look alike ?
Apart, that is, from Miss O'Hara having red hair?
I wonder what happened to "Gran".........not as photogenic?!
How come Miss O and her mum missed out on being photographed?
We are shortly going "visiting"...cat will be pleased ...twice in one day!
