I was also a Linda Ronstadt fan, Rusty. It's a shame she's retired; due to ill-health, apparently. She had a great voice.

Linda is/was the biz.
She has Parkinson's disease and it was first detected in changes in her singing voice.
She can't sing any more, but still does speaking engagements.
Lots of clips of her on YouTube.
One of my favourites (apart from Blue Bayou!) is a duet she does with Johnny Cash, "I Never Will Marry".
Also a video of her receiving the National Medal of Arts from President Obama at the White House.
And an interview on CBS talking about her Parkinson's.

I didn't know it was Parkinson's. Terrible. She was also a real looker!

Unfortunately, Kenyatta, Parkinson's is what she has.
When she received her medal from President Obama, a young serviceman took her arm, so she felt secure, and escorted her on to the stage, but she was fine.
The award was for a "one-of-a-kind, voice".
Yes, she was a bonnie girl!
She recorded a lot of Mexican songs, too.

It is very hot and humid here now.......
I have been sitting out in the garden , reading my Ian Rankin book.......but have finally just been driven indoors by the heat!
It is lovely and cool (comparatively) here in the lounge!
Is your smoke alarm also electric then, backed up by battery?
Are these supposed to be more effective?
Ours are only battery -operated.

We do not have a Cobblers in the village.....but we do have a Jewellers on the High Street!
I'm not charged for the fitting...only for the cost of the battery.
I shall have to go there tomorrow, after the visit to the vet.
I already have an appointment for my dog to have her booster vaccination, so will take the cat along too, to be checked over and his condition investigated......
He is eating a very small amount of food ...but all is definitely not well..........

Yes, my smoke alarm is wired to the mains and has a battery, too.
Sounds a bit odd!
Maybe the battery is in case of a power cut, d'you think?
My son is a plumber, so he is a lot more used to electrics with boilers and showers etc, so he is best fixing it.

Yes, I think you are right about the battery being a back up in case of a power cut.
Now that I come to think of it, our electric alarm clock works on the same principle. That also has a battery, so the time remains unaffected by an electrical shortage.
