Hi elle
Yes, rapid -charging stations are increasingly common, especially at motorway service stations. "Rapid" still means about half an hour, though - should be timed to coincide with lunch, or coffee at least.

btw grant of £4500 towards purchase price; no road tax to pay (at least for now - I don't see how this could continue if they become common); "fuel" price far cheaper than petrol.

Hello Chris.....
So do you have to pay a fee to use the Charging station- in additional to paying for the topping up cost?
I am presuming that you do, as it will be a good source of income to any one providing the facility?
And how do you charge the car at home? Do you (can you?) use your domestic electricity supply?
If so, presumably you would need to do this in a garage?
It's hardly suitable for on street parking?

Yes, it plugs in to a socket in the garage. I could get a charging point fitted (free, with another government grant) which would charge faster than the 12 hours or so this way, but installing it would involve digging a small trench in the garden and across a path, causing some disruption, so I'll see if I think it's necessary in due course.

Haven't tried to use a charging station yet - I'll let you know if the situation arises!

Hello, Elle!
Mission accomplished!
Collecting the Jazz tomorrow morning.
Been to the bank for cash, insured it, and road taxed it.
So, that is everything done.
Got on great with the lady in the bank, RBS.
She was super! When she had got my money wrapped up etc, she asked if there was anything else she could do for me.
I said I could be doing with a haircut, but she said she'd left her scissors at home!
You are asking about electric cars.
There is an electric car taxi fleet in Dundee.
They seem to be great cars!
The drivers love them.

Hello, Jazzgirl!
I am impressed by the Jazz!
Very roomy etc inside and plenty headroom.
Drives very well, too.
They told me nothing ever goes wrong with them.
So, good to hear!

Hi, Rusty!
Lunch at the Carvery was a huge success!
The food was delicious and the boys had a great time!
I am very pleased that you like the new Honda car!
Wow, that all happened very fast though.......collecting it tomorrow!
You will be like a kid with a new toy!
You'll have to take your granddaughters out to the Pine Cone in it to show it off!!
Can I be very feminine and ask what colour it is?
Did you part-exchange the Rover?
Electric cars sound economical to run and are environmentally friendly - but perhaps not so easy to deal with from a charging point of view, if one has to keep one's car on the road, as we do?
I am being called to play a game of "Sorry"...... a good board game.
Do you know it?

Thank you, jazzgirl!
I think it is a splendid car!
I am sure we shall be happy together.
Up to now, my all time favourite car was a Nissan Almera.
I had it nine years and it was a smashing car.
When I had a new kitchen fitted, most of the old one went to the skips in the Almera, including cooker.
I was sorry to see it go!

Hello, Elle!
Glad you had a good lunch.
Yes, everything has gone well regarding the car.
I could have got it today but no rush.
I would say it is a royal blue colour.
I am giving the Rover away.
Just want to see the back of it!
No part exchange.
It was an old fashioned car when it was new!
Not a patch on the Japanese and Korean cars.
I really do not think there will be problems charging the electric cars in the years ahead.
Technology never stops improving.
Right now, the AA use mobile chargers to get cars with flat batteries going.
There will be very clever folk working on it!
