Hello, Elle!
Hope you have a nice day out with the young ones!
Great day here, hope the weather in the SE is the same.
Yes, "confit" is correct, and your parse is perfect.
Well done, Elle!
And it came to your mind, but meant nothing to my mind!
I suspect it may be French?
I liked "W hitting ton" a lot, too!

Hi, Rusty!
We have had a great day out!
I should like to say that the children are tired.......but I fear that they are not!
However, I am allowing them to play games on their tablets whilst I cook their tea!
("Technology" is strictly rationed! as is watching the TV!)
We must be gluttons for punishment, as we are repeating the picnic scenario tomorrow!
Only then on a larger and more exotic scale, and with younger daughter and her family!
I might be able to organise some team games!
Maybe rounders?
So fingers crossed for a fine day!
Right, let me go see what I can find for the boys' tea......

Good evening, Elle!
Well done on your day out.
Picnics are more fun than tablets!
I have a neighbour who has a strapped up ankle after falling over the pavement kerb while walking along the lane engrossed in her mobile 'phone. She landed up at A & E.
And she would not be the first!
Been a fine day here.
Sharapova has been given a "wild card" for the US Open.
Big money talks!

Good evening, Rusty!
Whew! The boys are in bed and fast asleep !
They are very well-behaved and a pleasure to have around!
But I am exhausted!
I practically had to beg not to play "Snakes and Ladders" at 8 o'clock this morning!
Still, plenty of fresh air and exercise today should make them sleep well!
I do not approve of Maria being given a Wild Card for the US Open!
She should work her way back up the ranks!
Now......I must wash my hair......then I can finally sit down!

Hello, Elle!
I am sure you are enjoying the boys in spite of being exhausted!
I agree with you about Maria.
I am sure there would have been a lot of pressure from Nike and her other sponsors, to let her play.
Now, what think you of this?
The Scottish Athletics Association are wanting a meeting with Laura Muir to persuade her to run in the Commonwealth Games!
She has already told them that her veterinary exams are top priority and she will not be taking part.
I think they have a blasted cheek.
I hope she tells them where to go!

Hi, Rusty!
I am amazed that I am still awake!
We had dinner..... and then I even finished the cryptic crossword.!
Yes, a nice one....my favourites were 7d, 10a, 14a and 16d.
It didn't take me as long as it does some days!
I don't know much about the Scottish Athletics Association?
Is there any reason why Laura might be beholden to them?
Have they sponsored or funded her athletics training / events / anything that might make them think that she should be obliged to participate in the Commonwealth Games?
I think Laura is a sensible young woman, who has her eyes firmly on her future goals - and becoming a vet ranks high in her priorities.
I think she should concentrate on her exams.

Hello, Elle!
I know little about the SAA, too.
I am not sure if she gets money from them, but I know they have a duty of care towards her, and they should be showing it.
She is a Nike sponsored athlete, but how that works, I do not know.
I do not think the SAA give two hoots about her studies and exams.
They want her competing and possibly getting a medal at the Gold Coast.
Laura has her head screwed on, the vet exams come first!
Plenty time to run after she graduates!

Good morning, Rusty!
A fine day, although no blue sky as yet....warm though.....
Hopefully, picnic weather!
I was up with the lark this morning as usual!
The boys are fed and watered, the washing is out on the Hill's Hoist and the picnic is all organised.
The football is in the car, but I cannot as yet find the rounders' bat.....
I probably need to search the garden shed.....
I fear that taking a tennis racquet instead, will result in too much running about....(especially for those of us.....er..... 'slighter more older in years'!)
We are meeting up with other family members at 11.30am at one of our big country parks.
The outing should be good....I am looking forward to it!

Good morning, Elle!
Great day here!
Hope you enjoy your outing.
I have watched part of the Fats Domino documentary.
It is very good so far.
Lots about the New Orleans district he was born in.
He is still there!
I am looking forward to the rest of it.
It lasts two hours.

Hi, Rusty!
A good time was had by all on our picnic!
The day brightened to give blue sky and sunshine!
The cousins were delighted to see each other and all played well together, despite the disparity in ages... 9, 7, 5 and 17 months!
The little one tried hard to do all that the others did!
We took racquets and tennis balls, and a football.
A successful day!
What have you been up to?
