Good morning Elle and Rusty,

I am glad you managed to find so much information on the
Lascaux site - The video is very interesting indeed.
And I did not know about La Grotte Chauvet! It must have had
less publicity than Lascaux when first discovered.

But both the Dordogne and the Ardèche are beautiful parts of
France and travelling on the small mountain roads in my father's
2CV was out of this world! and then on reaching the Pyrénées, there were times when we wondered if the car would make it to the top of the mountain! (eg Le Tourmalet...) but it did, in its own time!
A great touring holiday which I still remember vividly, though I
was only 8 at the time. The best way to get to know one's own
country.

Already 34C here! (and somewhat humid)

Good morning, Pigale!
Yes, the videos were excellent.
Chauvet was one of the folk who found the cave.
I was wrong saying Chauvet was a place!
Apparently Chauvet was a speleologist, but I have not discovered what that is, yet!
Must consult Chambers!
There are many beautiful parts of France as I know only too well from watching Le Tour over many years.
The Tour visits Le Tourmalet most years.
I read earlier that Mark Cavendish and his family are getting "hate" Tweets etc on social media and he has asked them to stop.
This is to do with the disqualification of Peter Sagan.
What a dreadful way to behave.
Cav did nothing wrong!

Yes, a very nasty way to behave towards Cav.

I have not heard/read anything from P. Sagan himself explaining
his gesture? Perhaps he was trying to protect himself? Cav was so
very close that the wheels might have got 'entangled' ?

Hi, Rusty!
It is good that your drizzle has dried up!
I have just checked on our local weather forecast again.....and it seems that we are now no longer expecting thunderstorms - - instead it will be very hot and sunny all day!
At least that augurs well for Wimbledon, if not for the garden!
The golf tournament got off to an early start?.........
I recognise the names James Nesbitt ( I love "Cold Feet") and A. P. McCoy, but not the others?
I always find it interesting to see "celebrities" at main events.
A speleologist is a studier of caves... a titbit of information I have picked up somewhere along the line!
That is disgusting behaviour on the part of whomever "tweeted" ( is that the correct term?) those dreadful remarks to Mark Cavendish.
He was the injured party, not the offender!
I have finshed today's 15 x 15 - just a couple of queries I may need help with later, if I do not come up with satisfactory answers..........
Have you had time to do your puzzle?

Hello, Pigale!
Yes, it is astonishing how some occasions remain in one's mind - like your family trip!
It is good to have these treasured memories, isn' t it?
Are you able to get about any better?
Although if remains so hot, you are probably best indoors, keeping as cool as you can!
At least you have Le Tour to watch!

Hello, Pigale!
Yes, very bad behaviour from these people.
Cav called the Tweets "vile and threatening".
Sagan said he did not know Cav was there, but he thought Cav had hit him from behind.
The thing is, Pigale, it was a very narrow opening between Sagan and the barrier, that Cav tried to come through.
He may have crashed anyway, but Sagan's elbow ensured he did hit the barrier.
I think Sagan is home in Monaco now.
(Monaco seems to be the place where all the top sportsfolk live!)
His wife, Katarina, is pregnant, and I am sure she will have plenty little tasks to keep him occupied!

Monaco is supposed to be a 'tax haven' so long as you reside there
for six months (and one day I think?) of the year. Easily done for
sports people and their family.

Hi again , Rusty!
My post to you - see below - clashed with yours to Pigale.........
Now......I am confused by what you have just said?.......
I thought that Sagan had deliberately stuck out his elbow to stop Cavendish getting past.....hence the suspension......but now it appears he might not have known he was there ?
Do the flashbacks not help to show what might have transpired?
How can a judge or jury decide what appropriate action to take?

With hindsight, I personally now think that it could be a 50-50 situation!
(although does this excuse the elbow gesture?)

Hello, Elle!
I think the first golfer teed off at 8.00 o'clock.
They are well under way now.
Pep is a Spanish football manager (of Manchester City).
JP and Dermot are Irish millionaires, possibly billionaires.
JP is very well known in the horse racing world.
He has around 200 horses in training and a very nice lad.
Dermot is a major share holder in Celtic Football Club and has many business interests.
Yes, I looked up speleologist! New to me!
Dreadful behaviour by those threatening Cav.
Hope he has informed the police.
Not sure if that would help or not.
I have not looked at my puzzle, Elle.
Just fire away with your queries.
I may be able to help, who knows!

Hello, Elle and Pigale!
My feeling is Sagan stuck his elbow out to prevent Cav coming past, if he was fast enough.
I do not think he meant to put him into the barrier, though.
You do not have time to think in a sprint.
Everything is instinctive.
Sagan says he felt a bang on his butt from a rider (Cav) coming up and his elbow went out.
Le Tour say they warned the sprinters before the race started that they would be watching the sprints closely for any transgressions of the rules.
So, that is the way it is, it is unfortunate that two top riders are gone from the Tour.
