I posted this on the Icryptic thread, elle, but just in case you don 't see it, I'll repeat it here!

Reminds of an interview I heard with John Gielgud. Asked if any other actors had influenced him, he cited Claude Rains, then added:
"He was a great influence on me. I don't know what happened to him. I think he failed and went to America."

Good morning, Elle!
No rain today!
The Little Mix concert was a great success in town last night.
The rain stayed off but the shops had run out of ponchos earlier in the day!
I hear Jo Konta has pulled out of the tournament she was in.
She has a back injury.
Paddy P has her third favourite to win Ladies Wimbledon, but with her back injury the odds may change, I'd say.
Bad weather stopped play in ladies golf.
Some top players, including Amy Wang, have yet to finish their rounds.
Right, I am about to tackle the puzzle!

Hi, Rusty1
That is good the concert was a success!
Did your grandchildren all go to it?
I 'm assuming that Jo damaged her back in the fall on court yesterday?
What a shame!
I hope she recovers in time for Wimbledon!
Without Serena, there is a chance for so many women to step up, and take the title.
It would be great if it could be Jo!
I think that Laura Robson was also born in Australia?
How is Laura getting on?
I haven't heard anything about her?
Other than she has been given a Wild Card for Wimbledon.
I am finding the crossword harder today!

Hello, Elle!
Just two granddaughters went to the concert.
I did not attend, no.
I see Paddy P has lengthened Jo's odds after her injury.
Worth a punt?
Laura Robson is playing at Wimbledon.
She has to play a Brazilian girl whose name I have forgotten, on Monday morning.
Lexi has publicly praised one of her regular opponents, Morgan Pressel, for being a great help to her mother during her illness.
Morgan set up a foundation a few years ago to help fight cancer, after losing her own mother to the disease.
Lexi was holding her Mum's hand during radiotherapy this week.
Bronte Law is doing best of the British girls at the golf, so far.
I thought the puzzle was a bit harder today, too.
That's the best way!

Hi, Rusty!
It is glorious here now....and very warm out...even more so than indoors!
Our garden is looking lovely - especially the fuchsias in the patio pots.
They are splendiferous!
The dog seems a bit off colour? Rather lethargic?
I am not taking her out this afternoon.....I shall let her have a rest, and will shall keep an eye on her.....
Hopefully, it is nothing of note.
There is such a lot done towards aiding / researching/ Cancer nowadays.
My younger daughter takes part regularly in the "Race for Life" events to help fund Cancer Research UK.
She ran originally on behalf of her Godmother ( a very close friend of mine) who at the time had cancer (and has since sadly died from such) and then of course because her dad suffered from lung cancer.
All our family and friends rally round to contribute.
Yes, have a punt on Jo! Why not?
It may well be that withdrawing from Eastbourne is more of a precautionary measure?
She will want to be at her fittest for Wimbledon!

Hello, Elle!
How is your dog?
There are many excellent causes to contribute to.
My young ones run 5k and 10 k races for various charities.
And I help!
I contribute to the FoodBank every week, when I remember!
Hope Jo is fit for next week.
Laura Robson has been a disappointment.
Goodness knows when she last won a match.
I have been watching the ladies golf from America.
It is very good!.
One of the American girls has a lovely name, I think...
Brooke Pancake!
She is not doing very well though.

Good morning, Rusty!
A fine but chilly start to the day.
I have just come back from the park.
I think the dog is okay....thank you for asking....she has been running about, and eaten all her breakfast when we came back.
It may be that she is just missing all her usual exercise?
She is used to walking a minimum of five miles a day , often double that.
The best I can offer at the moment is to "hobble" a short distance and then sit down on a park bench!
And yes, before you say it....I should go to see my GP!
And I will next week if there is no improvement!
And I have to "hobble" out again later.
We are going to BB's School Summer Fair this afternoon.
How about you?
Any word yet on a car?

Good morning, Elle!
No rush for a car.
The one I have is OK for now, but I want to replace it.
I shall patiently wait until one is "sourced".
That is good about your dog!
I have been out and about already.
Will watch the Tour de France later, the Irish Derby, and then the golf.
There is an unusual obituary in The Times today.
A woman who "enjoyed gardening, complaining about her husband's hens and grandchildren."
Not many folk complain about their grandchildren?
I hope they don't read it.
I hope your Summer Fair goes well!

Hi, Rusty!
I strongly suspect that bad punctuation is at the root of that seemingly insensitive comment in the "grandmother's" obituary!
Shades of the classic "Eats, shoots and leaves"?
As you say, surely no one complains about their grandkids!
I have made a start on today's puzzle - only done about a quarter so far - but will have to leave it now and go and get ready for off!
We dare not be late, else BB will be upset!
I hope you have a good day!
