Good morning, Elle!
My rain has stopped!
Still very cloudy though.
Wimbledon usually gets decent weather, hope it continues!
Yes, I am sure there will be the usual crashes etc in Le Tour.
Now, I am at a disadvantage here with 15-1's homophone.
I would guess auger/augur, but I would not know how to pronounce either of them, anyway!
They are not words that are in my vocabulary.
I know Shirley Williams MP was Vera's daughter.
I like Shirley Williams.
I do not think I read "Testament of Experience".
"Testament of Youth" was a very good read, I thought.
Just heading out now.

Good morning, Rusty!
It was still raining here when I first went out, early on.
But it does appear to be drying up now, though.
So maybe some tennis!
But my daughter and YB are coming midday, so I shall be fully occupied "playing" for a time!
Yes, auger/ augur was the answer.
I enjoyed both Vera Brittain's "Testaments".........
"Testament of Youth" was about World War One and her leaning towards pacifism - and "........of Experience" was about her marriage and family and the impact caused by the Second World War.
Also a good read.
Right...time for a coffee, apple and cheese - my normal sustenance whilst doing the crossword!

Hello, Elle,
Still dry and cloudy here!
Your tennis should be safe enough today.
Vera Brittain's books will be a complete change from Miss Peckwitt's?
Puzzle finished today.
Quite a good one!

Hi, Rusty!
I have been very busy playing with YB!
Tennis, I am afraid, has not had a "look in"....but they have now gone home ...... and so I have the TV on before me......
Halep playing Duan, with one set all.
Yes, indeed, Vera Brittain's books have much greater depth than those of Miss P!
But each to their own...there is a time and place .......and mood !
I have enjoyed both!
I agree that today's 15 x 15 - and also the QC, which I know you do not do - was a good one!
I finished it, bar one .......
22a: Leading authority losing capital after backing an island nation (5)
I have N?U?U
But no idea as to the answer?
There were also two words that were new to me.
"Reins" meaning the kidneys; and "fink" meaning an informer.
I had to resort to looking them up in Chambers!
How has your day been ?

Hello, Elle!
My day has been fine.
Called into a garage to arrange "sourcing" of a car for me.
Just hum drum stuff.
I did not know "reins" as kidneys, too.
22 a, The answer is "Nauru", which is an island nation north of Australia, in I forget which, group of islands.
"An" is in the clue, needing backing, "Na".
Leading authority losing capital is (g)uru. Giving Nauru.
Quite a good one.
No, I do not do the quick one.
One a day is plenty for me, and none on Sundays.
There is Diamond League from Paris on Saturday evening.

Hi, Rusty!
Thank you for explaining "Nauru".
I would never have got that.......
It was too difficult for me!
Is this your garage owner friend who is looking out for a "new" car for you?
Or does he check it out for you once you find a potential car?
I ask because this is just what our mechanic friend does for us!
It is good to have an independent "expert" on the scene.
Shall you look for another Rover?
Another DL? they are coming thick and fast!
There haven't been many Brits taking part, though, have there?
I think the World Championship Team Trials are coming up, too? - I think I saw an advert about coverage on the TV?

Hello, Elle,
No, this is a friend/business associate of my son.
"Sourcing" means, I tell him my requirements and he finds something suitable, and probably cheaper, than I could.
I do not do any looking at all.
That's the sourcer's task.
No more Rovers.
I like Japanese cars.
Though I turned one down today.
No rush, though.
Nationalities don't matter in the Diamond League.
They try to get the best fields they can.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I understand now about "sourcing" - presumably you pay a fee for this service?
But I can see that there will be greater options - and yes, probably cheaper, as you say - available to you this way.
And does this involve a mechanical check by the sourcerer?
(Almost sounds like a homophone for a magician.......Mr R would probably think so!)
My elder daughter used to have a Mazda (I think that is Japanese?)
She now has a Qashqai.
I like it though when there is a Brit (or more) taking part in the DL- it makes it seem more competitive!
Someone to cheer on!
Right, I shall play catch up and watch "15 to 1"
I recorded it whilst I was watching the tennis.
