A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
It is another lovely day here, and already the temperature is 12C!
How about that?
The dog goes for a trim tomorrow...hopefully, for once I shall have timed it correctly!
I am going down with a cold, I think.......I have the "sniffles"....and I doubt it is just hay fever.
Perhaps that is why I "didn't feel up to much "yesterday .
How are you today?
Have you already been out for your paper?
I am planning an "easy" morning...just going to make a coffee, grab my apple and a hunk of cheddar cheese, and settle down to the crosswords........

Good day, Elle.
I am not moving today.
I think I have a bug.
So no paper!
It is cloudy and dry here.
Good luck with your crosswords.
I have ordered "The Dog Who Wouldn't Be" by Farley Mowat.
No word on your daughter's car?

Hi, Rusty!
Oh dear! I am sorry to hear that you are feeling rough.
Which bit of you "hurts"?
Or , like me, are you going down with a cold?
Now, I have heard of Farley Mowat, though not " The Dog Who Wouldn't Be".
I wonder if the story will be along the lines of Mike Tomkies and Moobli?
I really enjoyed that .
The one about wolves, by the way, is "Never Cry Wolf".
I haven't read it but I believe that a film was made, based on the story.
There sound to be good possibilities there?
I shall be interested to hear what you make of your new book.
I don't know whether or not Chris has contacted my daughter yet......
She works from home today, so will find it easier to take a call should he ring....
He is always very busy, so is likely to go and see her one evening after work.
Now...did you see the clue offered up for solving, by Diablos?
I thought you might like it.......
Substantial drinks held around school with cycling champion (7,7)
A nice parsing, I thought!

Hello, Elle.
I ache all over.
So could be a bug, or some kind of inflammation.
My book was written in 1940 and I just hope there is no racism in it, or it will go straight in the bin!
Mowat's books get good reviews.
I had a look at Diablos query.
I would not have got it.
Radley is new to me, and it's a long time since Wiggo was a champion.
One of my favourite events is this weekend.
The Ana Inspiration ladies golf at California.
Used to be the "Dinah Shore" event.
Who was Dinah Shore?
This is the one where traditionally the winner jumps into Poppie's Pond!
The prize is a large trophy and a fluffy bath robe!
Lydia Ko won last year. (Her Mum, sister, and caddy, jumped with her) good fun!
I have had a wee bet, and need Lexi Thompson to be in the top five to make a wee profit.
Lexi has won it before.

Hi, Rusty!
You do not sound good....perhaps you have caught a chill?
Maybe it was a little too soon in the year to be going about in your shirt sleeves?
Anyway, stay warm now and drink plenty of hot fluids.
Be sensible........?
I worked backwards with Diablos' clue!
Bradley Wiggins was first in my mind because of the ongoing BC investigation!
Once I had the name, the parsing was easy.
I didn't know "Radley" either, but surmised it was a school and looked it up to confirm.
I have heard of Dinah Shore from way back.
She was an American singer and actress.
No idea what she sang, or in what she acted, though!
But the name definitely rings a distant bell........
I remember Lydia - and her mum et al - jumping into the pond!
I had planned to take out the dog again this afternoon, but I am now streaming with a cold.....
I am sick of wiping first my nose and then my eyes....so I may stay put!!

Hello, Elle!
I knew you would bring up shirt sleeves!
Amy Alcott was first to take a flyer into Poppie's Pond.
1988?
But it was a very mucky pond then.
It is very clean and hygenic now.
Amy won again in 1991, and this time Dinah Shore jumped with her!
Dinah was 75 years old!
Apparently she whispered in Amy's ear, "don't jump without me,"
It starts at 5.00 pm today on Sky Sports.

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, you know me so well......
Seriously, though, my grandmother always used to say "Ne'er cast a clout till May is out!"
Now, I always used to think that this meant don' t discard your warm clothing until the end of the month of May, but when I was checking for the phrase's origin, I came across some doubt over the latter part of this.......
Seemingly, "till May is out" might well mean until the May/ Hawthorn is "out" in bloom.
I knew the little people would have something to do with it!
You will be busy watching the golf by now, I expect.......
Is your son coming to see you this evening?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, I think my son will be here soon.
Could May month be linked to May/hawthorn?
I think you are on to something.
I can't really remember my grannies but I believe they would be more likely to say "and don't be bringing any trouble to our door!"
Yes the golf is on.
I am watching Stacey Lewis just now.
I think most of the ladies are South Koreans.
It is a strange course (Mission Hills, Cal) lots of houses built on it.
