Hi, Rusty!
We did indeed cross posts!
Shirt sleeves? Brrrh!
You are obviously hardy!
We were all back in our warm coats when out walking our dogs this morning.
Apparently, though, the temperature will reach double figures by this afternoon.
Fingers crossed!
No, I have no special plans for today....
I have yet to send another letter to the HMRC - I write to them enclosing documentation explaining their errors - and they respond by sending me yet another fine!
It is not a match made in heaven......
Your friends are heading back home quite soon?
How is the sick mother? I hope they are leaving her much improved?

Hello, Elle!
A great morning here.
Coats and fleeces are very last week.
But, my father always told me that the Winter of 1947 was the worst he could remember, and the snow did not arrive until March!
I would attempt phone calls to Hector as your letters are not successful at all?
My friend's mother is not great.
There are other agencies getting involved now, as to her future care.
There was a story in my local paper on Saturday about a man in Brechin who has had the same lightbulb for 40 years!
It is in his bathroom and was supposed to provide some heat as well as light.
I have not heard of this kind of bulb before.

Hi, Rusty!
I have tried to get through to the HMRC by phone - to various departments - but all is recorded and getting through to a "human" seems to be well nigh impossible .
I have finally flung down the gauntlet, however ........and have told them (by letter) that if I do not have a satisfactory response from them within seven working days, I shall put the entire matter in the hands of our solicitors.
I refuse to be threatened and blackmailed!
Now, on the plus side...... yes ,I am finally beginning to cheer up ...today began badly enough.....the sun is shining and it is now quite warm!
We shall go out later on this afternoon.
Are you going out?
Maybe to have a word with Horace?

Hello, Elle!
Still a great day here, too.
It is a pity HMRC did not have an office not too far off, where you could have visited, and refused to budge from until your case is sorted to both your satisfaction and theirs.
But that is an ideal world.
Maybe Hector does not do ideal worlds?
I am not long home.
Not near Horace today.
For a change, uphill out, downhill home!
Finished my crossword.
A good setter today.
I liked 10 across.
And the "homonym" at 25a took me a while to see, although I had answered correctly!

Hello, Jazzgirl!
I watched "The Mighty Shannon" this morning and thought it excellent.
Same format as the one about the West coast, although Colin has swapped his curragh for a canoe.
The photography is superb!

Hi rusty
I am just home a few minutes ago from a lovely stroll in the park. Superb sunshine, birds singing, skylark overhead and the deer just relaxing on the grass.
I will watch The Mighty Shannon this evening .
No reply from Colin S-J as yet, and I really did not expect one, although he has been active on his FB page these last few days, so must have good wifi wherever he is. But I am grateful for Colm's response.
A nice cup of tea is needed......

Good afternoon, Rusty!
It is glorious here now...and mild - albeit not (quite) shirt sleeves weather!
We have been out walking for a large part of the afternoon - it was even warm enough to sit for a time.
I am best walking when I am feeling upset or cross - I can walk it out of my system!
After my written battle with the HMRC, some neighbours wanted my help in dealing with a local problem.......by that time I was on a roll.....
I've written to one of the local councillors.
We shall see what fruit that brings forth.
Anyway, back home now...and calm again!
I haven't had the time to do either crossword, but have taken a look at the two you mentioned.......
I cannot see 10a straight off, but thought the homophone in 25a was good!
"Hugh mainly" sounds like humanely = with sympathy (def)
A good one!
Must make a coffee......

Good evening, Elle!
Been a great day here, too!
Took me an age to spot "Hugh mainly", though I got "humanely" fairly quickly.
I thought the "fellow" was "human"!
Was a good crossword today.
I found that the loch webcam is much better today.
Hope it stays that way!

Good evening, Rusty!
I have never gotten around to doing the crosswords!
I have been kept busy today, what with one thing and another.
My daughter phoned to tell me about her Mothers' Day outing yesterday.
She had a great time!
They went to a restaurant called The Giraffe World Kitchen, in the O2.
Have you heard of it?
I think it is part of a chain of restaurants that serves a variety of dishes from around the world.
It is seemingly well -known as a child -friendly environment, so obviously a popular venue with young families.
All enjoyed their day!
Chris - our mechanic friend - was round here earlier.
He has taken our car to service it and take it for its MOT.
He will return it tomorrow evening - so we are car-less tomorrow!
He is also going over to our daughter's to take look at her car, and decide what action will be best to take over her clutch.
So all go!
Only Lassie in the nest when I looked.......

Hello, Elle!
I have not heard of the Giraffe restaurant, but that is probably because I pay little heed to restaurants, unless they serve bacon rolls!
There surely won't be giraffe on the menu?
Your friend Chris seems the real deal!
Excellent service.
I think replacing a clutch is a fairly standard procedure.
Getting it to the workshop will be the problem?
Are you getting a good picture from the loch now?
Mine is much improved, whatever they did.
Now this is strange.
The spellchecker on my Chromebook does not like the word "loch", but it is quite happy with "lough"!
Odd!
