Good evening, Rusty!
Do you know, I have never seen a red squirrel "in the flesh"?
Only photographs of them.
We have two very tame grey squirrels that visit every day, knocking on the kitchen window for their nuts.
"Isogloss" was a new word to me, as well.
Easy enough to arrive at, but not to parse fully.
I would never have got "og" as meaning "own goal"!
I am envious of your silverside!
I had sausage and mash - and mushy peas!!
Chris phoned my daughter on Wednesday, for age details about her car....
But yesterday he had his father-in-law's funeral to attend....I don't know whether he has been in touch with her today.
I expect it will be next week now before he has a chance to follow through........
They will be able to manage with the one car though over the weekend.

Thank you, Malone!

Good evening, Elle!
We have lots of urban red squirrels here.
But the American greys are moving in.
There is a law that if a grey is caught, it must be killed.
It can't be released into a wood or anything.
Must be killed.
And some of the reds have been found to have leprosy.
So, the reds are struggling a bit.
I would have thought that "og" would be in Chambers or Bradford's, but no, just "own goal".
I had mash, carrots, and peas, with my silverside!
Fingers crossed that your daughter's car can be fixed at a sensible price.

Hi, Rusty!
Are you sure?
I had thought that the (old) law of 1937 against grey squirrels had been revoked?
Perhaps I am mistaken?
We have many greys here in England, and many are very tame and will eat from your hand.
I am fairly sure that there is no longer any legal requirement existing to either kill them or report their existence?
But maybe it is different if in Scotland?
However, this is only my thought....I could well be wrong.......
And anyway, I like the grey squirrels!
And on that defiant note..................
I shall go and watch "15 to 1"!

Good morning, Elle.
Lovely day here!
I think the law that was repealed was that you could be prosecuted for not reporting the presence of greys.
Certainly beside me they are looked upon as invasive vermin and must be
humanely killed if caught.
I know there are many differences between the laws in Scotland and the rest of the UK.
I am off to ASDA for my paper and catch up with the gossip!

Good morning, Rusty!
We too have a glorious day!
We are just back from a healthy and invigorating walk - because although very sunny, it is also pretty parky, and we needed to move speedily to keep warm.
Now, I have discovered that "squirrel" is sometimes served as a "delicious dish" in top -notch restaurants - or so Google tells me!
I certainly won't be eating it!
We have daughter and family coming today now......instead of tomorrow, as she had intended.
Her husband had planned a surprise for her for Mothers' Day.
He and the children are taking her to the O2 Arena.
She only found out when she told him she had arranged to come here!
She will enjoy that , though - a pleasant treat!
And we are perfectly happy to see them today instead!
( I shall have to hoover round and tidy up!)

Good evening, Elle!
I have an idea that squirrel was often eaten by the travelling people.
I am sure it would be tasty?
I hope your day with your family went well.
Now, I thought (and could be way out!) that O2 Arena was a concert hall?
Is there something on that they are taking her to see?
Now, your final sentence!
The implication being that you only hoover and tidy the place when visitors are coming?
Surely not!
