Hello, Elle,
The crossword started off very well, I thought.
5d is a new word to me.
I have vaguely heard of 23d.
Is that not a bit mumbo-jumbo-ish?
A good puzzle today, which I have done a good bit earlier than usual.
I am heading out for a wee while.
Have a card to post and will keep walking after that.

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Are you home again?
How far did you venture?
Yes, Reiki is a rather strange healing technique based on the belief that energy can be channelled into the patient by touch, activating natural healing processes and restoring well- being.
I knew nothing whatsoever about it before my friend trained to do this!
I was very surprised by his action as he is a very practical person and a biomedical scientist.
He is perhaps the very last person I would have imagined would follow such a technique.
He also believes that "thinking positive thoughts" about a persons' health and well-being can influence the situation.
I have no idea as to the authenticity of such claims.
I would hesitate to dismiss it all out of hand though - you just never know....?
Anyway, I am being summoned to go out for a walk now......
Back in a bit!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, home now.
I think your friend is correct with "positive thoughts".
I have not been to any of these Reiki or other therapists, but hesitate to think they are any good.
A proper massage is beneficial, though.
I got a large supplement in my local paper today.
It was all about the benefits of copper insoles.
Yet, if you go online and ferret about a bit, the studies done show the curative effects of copper insoles and bracelets etc for arthritis, are non-existent.
Wishful thinking for the most part, but I suppose if you are suffering, you would try anything to alleviate the condition.
There is a huge trade in so called "remedies" that have not been rigorously tested under proper conditions.
It is quite cold here!

Good evening, Rusty!
"Remedies" for this and that have always been prevalent, though, haven't they?
I suffered badly from travel sickness when a child - I'm not all that brilliant now.....I still cannot use coaches, or travel by bus for long distances , and always need to sit in the front seat in the car.
But I remember the strange rituals my parents would carry out , all in an effort to "cure" me!
They even had me sitting on brown paper !
It didn't work!
Now.......I have "bit the bullet" and ordered the "EuroSports Player"!!!!
I was surprised to have it on my computer screen and working immediately!
Very efficient!
(I looked briefly at the pole vaulting!)
Roll on the tennis and Athletics competitions!
It is freezing cold here! I think mist/ fog and frost are forecast for tomorrow morning!

Hello, Elle!
Well done you, on Eurosport!
Plenty skiing this week.
You'll soon be up on Lara Gut etc!
Was it straightforward enough to place your order?
And it's working away fine?
I think the "player" represents very good value.
The pole vaulting was tame stuff!
if I see anything that may interest you, I'll let you know.
The Diamond League starts in May.
Should be lots of stuff before then, though!

Hello, Elle!
The Karlsruhe athletics are on Eurosport 1 at 11pm.
It will be Saturday's events.
It is very much winter sports on just now.
The World Championships skiing is taking place.
Womens Super G tomorrow lunch timish.
Just saw a clip of Lara Gut being interviewed.
She has recovered from her fall last week.
Also saw a photo of Jonathan Edwards interviewing Lindsey Vonn.
He is branching out into other sports!

Hey, Rusty!
Yes, it was very straightforward to place the order.
And amazingly, I could access the Euro Player immediately afterwards.
I haven't had much chance to explore what is on offer as yet, but shall spend more time on it tomorrow.
I can watch live TV and also videos of past events.
This is how I came to hit upon the pole-vaulting competition!
I'll be grateful for tip offs as to what is on when and where....it will take me a while to get used to finding my way around.
Do you know how long the Karlsruhe Athletics will be on for tonight?
11 pm is a bit late to start watching if it is a lengthy programme.
But am I right in assuming that I shall be able to watch a video of it tomorrow?
After all, I found the Pole-vaulting video soon after the event?
I am surprised that Jonathan is venturing into other sports - maybe (she says cynically) that is where the money is?

Hello, Elle,
Karlsruhe was on Saturday night where Laura Muir ran.
It is on again tomorrow evening on Eurosport 2, at 19.00.
A word of warning, Elle.
These starting times can vary quite a bit.
Because of all the "live" sports they can not guarantee the events will run to time.
I read an interview with Jonathan, and he wants to develop into a sports presenter, now.
And it looks like it is not only in athletics, if he is interviewing Lindsey Vonn.
I like his style, though.
And realistically, the BBC have not much sport left for him to get his teeth into.

Hi, Rusty!
I am being a little dim here.......are you saying that this evening's athletics at Karlsruhe is a rerun of the schedule in which Laura participated - or is it another (so far unseen ) day of an ongoing event?
And is tomorrow's evening performance something "new" or another rerun of the same thing?
I shall find my way around the site soon!
I like Jonathan ; he has a nice friendly manner.
I've just been out in the garden with the dog - it is absolutely throwing it down!!

Good morning, Elle!
Yes, a re-run of Saturday's Karlsruhe event.
Normally if an event is being broadcast "live", they will have the the word "Live" in the title of the programme.
That's how it appears on my TV, anyway.
I like Jonathan too.
I suspect it is still raining here, too.
