Hi, Rusty!
Our day has remained lovely......but it is going very dark now....
I didn't venture far with the dog this afternoon, as I wanted to finish the cleaning up.
It has been a fairly quiet day, with no unexpected visitors!
I had become used to local friends and neighbours dropping round with cards!
Mind you, had anyone come.......they would have found chaos!
All is looking nice now though!
Have you made progress with your crossword? - I haven't yet had time to do mine.
I bought a paper today, too, as my crossword "source" has gone away for Christmas!
I hope your weather didn't deteriorate too much?
Our outlook for Christmas day and Boxing Day sounds quite "rosy" at the moment.
I believe "sunshine" has been mentioned!

Hello, Elle!
Finished the crossword. A couple of new words for me!
Weather is still dry, not windy, but cold.
Barbara should be here some time tomorrow.
Fingers crossed she does not do much damage!

Good evening, Rusty!
Goodness! Where has the time gone?
I expect by now your son will be with you?
Maybe he will contribute something towards Christmas Day's dinner?
I must admit to preferring your steak pie to my turkey.......!
I have started the crossword.
I liked 9a as being straightforward, and appreciated 5d.
Only about a third of the way through......I may not make it to the end!
We haven't eaten yet....time to go see to dinner......

Hello, Elle!
My son brought me stovies and a Christmas card!
He is coming back on Christmas Eve.
I have disposed of the crossword, but it was quite good today.
Do you a-carolling go?
Or is it a-wassailing?
Still no sign of the storm.
Long may that continue!

Hey, Rusty!
Stovies and a Christmas card are a good combination!
It is great that your son is coming to spend Christmas Eve with you!
What are the young ones doing?
We used to go carol- singing in our misbegotten youth -- collecting for charity at houses by pre-arrangement.
It was good fun! We were fed and watered at regular intervals!
I see from Chambers that "wassailing " can mean "go from house to house at Christmas singing carols" but it also means "drink plentiful amounts of alcohol and enjoy oneself with others in a noisy, lively way"!!.
I shall stick to the term "carol- singing" then, in order to preserve my virtue!
I hope Barbara stays well away from you!

Hello, Elle!
The young ones will be gallivanting I would imagine!
Carol singing sounds best, Elle!
My son will just be here for an hour or so.
He lives very close to me.
Not long now.
Just three sleeps!
I am a bit lost with the days this week.
I have it in my head that tomorrow is Saturday.
No idea why!

Good morning, Rusty!
Dry but coldish here.
No winds as yet, but we are now told we can expect them later.
I hope you haven't been hit by Storm Barbara?
Your winds were already rising last night.
Well, the countdown to Christmas is shortening!
I have just been speaking to the boys - only two more sleeps now!
They are all leaving home after breakfast tomorrow, so should be with us by midday.
I am semi-organised!
Just bought the paper......have you been out for yours?

Good day to you, Elle!
Yes, a bit wet and windy here.
I did not see,
"that familiar sunrise,
through sleepy eyes",
this morning!
We are still at a "yellow warning" though.
Yes, I have bought my paper and Miss O should be calling for me any minute.
ASDA was busier than usual today.
Must dash and throw a jacket on before "herself" gets here!

Tesco was bustling at 7.05 a.m. but relatively calm at 7.30. The ladies who help with ID for booze etc at the self service bits expect today to be the worst, though they said it was terrible yesterday. People were really rude to them, apparently.
On with the gingerbread house and tree decoration (it is alive and will be planted in hopes, so can only be indoors for a couple of days).

Cheers!!

Rosalind, there were quite a few folk trying to buy alcohol at ASDA when I was in, but it is illegal to sell it (up here, anyway) before 10.00am.
The tills are set to refuse alcohol sales before 10.00.
No excuse for people being rude to staff!
