Hi, Rusty!
That is an incredible distance for the Dundee schoolchildren to "cover" just in their lunch and playtime breaks.
I wonder if the journey of Shackleton and Scott was fully outlined for them, as they "clocked up" their miles?
I feel sure that it was.
They must have learned a lot, even though they never left the Scottish shores!
And how appropriate an end in walking to the "Discovery"!
Well done them!
This "interactive" concept of combining History and Geography with "real life" is quite a novel one?

Hello, Elle!
Aren't they marvellous!
I think they would learn all about the Discovery and the journey, otherwise what would be the point.
And Mums And Dads would be learning, too!
The ship was built on the Tay and is in the harbour now.
We never had things like that at school.
Type "Rosebank School Antarctic" into Google and you can read the article and see the pictures.
They even had a husky with them today!
I am very pleased for them!

Good evening, Rusty!
I have read the article and watched the video!
Well done the little ones!
I have no recollection of learning any history at all whilst at primary school!
We just seemed to concentrate on the 3 'R's.
I think the interactive concept is brilliant.
I am sure there is much scope for history to be taught in such a way to primary schools?
I for one would have been interested, I think.
I hear that Storm Barbara is on its (her?) way....heading for Scotland on Friday and Christmas Eve.
I hope it isn't coming your way?
I am half listening to "Mastermind"......

Hello, Elle!
The wee ones were great!
And a big thank you to their teachers, police officers, lollipoppers, traffic wardens etc for keeping them safe while on their "trek"!
I am sure everyone involved would learn something.
I was delighted to read about it!
270 miles is a long way for little legs!
I am hoping to miss Storm Barbara.
She is coming in from the North West, so hopefully it will abate a bit by the time it reaches me!
Lightning forecast, too.
I will be out on Christmas Morning whatever the weather!

Hi, Rusty!
We shall be spending Christmas at home, as elder daughter and family are coming to stay with us this year.
They will arrive on Christmas Eve and will stay probably until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
Younger daughter comes for Christmas lunch every other year to her sister.
Alternate years they see the in-laws at Christmas!
But everyone will be here, though, on Boxing Day!
It may sound complicated, but it works well!
So what will you be doing on Christmas Morning?
Do you go around visiting your sons and families?
I think you said that your granddaughters come to visit you at home in the afternoon?
Maybe this year , you will get the pup coming as well?

Hello, Elle!
I shall visit one of my sons in the morning, come home, and should get Miss O and Miss La Bamba visiting me in the afternoon, before they go to Gran's for their dinner.
I am meeting Miss O on Friday for a bacon roll and will know better then.
How is the JustGiving site behaving now?
Have you had a look, or are you leaving well alone?

Oops, Rusty, sorry.....I have been asleep!
( I thought I was reading!)
Your arrangements sound as potentially confusing as do ours!
How do you decide which son to visit ?
Or do you alternate each year as we have to do?
Ours gets even more confusing as sometimes we go to our younger daughter's- instead of us doing the cooking! - and our son-in-law cooks Christmas lunch!
( I rather like that!)
I did have a quick shifty at the Just Giving site earlier - but not much to tell?
Our message is still there!
No -one has replied to my email (of complaint!) though!
Now.........I think I'd better have a coffee......

Hello, Elle,
I visit the same son every year.
My other younger son visits me frequently.
He lives only a two minute walk away.
Good about JustGiving.
Pity they will not respond to year email, though.

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, now I understand!
Yes, that makes matters more simple.
It can get confusing when one has to mix and match and adjust arrangements here and there!
We have bought our turkey today!
This is another variant, as we only eat turkey when we have Christmas lunch with elder daughter!
Alternate years we eat roast beef and gammon!
Ah well , change / variety / whatever makes the world go round!
I shall wait to see what Just Giving say to David.......

Good morning, Rusty!
Dreich here!
Very miserable!
I am shortly accompanying a friend to her hospital appointment.
I am the cavalry!
We shall have lunch afterwards.
I hope your weather is better than this!
( No sign of Barbara?)
Have a good day!
