Hi, Rusty!
How can you have purchased it cheaper then I did, when my copy only cost 1p?
Plus of course p & p, so a total of £2 - 81?
Unless , of course, you are saying that you bought it for £2-80?
Yes, I guess that is definitely what you mean?
That is very good!
I appreciate that earlier you quoted prices on ebay for me....but I wanted to use Amazon as I had vouchers paid into that account, you see.
But I thought you had already read the book?
I am very much looking forward to reading it....... after I have read another seven hundred (or so) pages of "Hawaii"!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, £2.80, "very good" on eBay.
I reread books a lot, especially Michener and Bill Bryson.
I have around fifty books I will not part with.
I think you will like it, Elle, and as much of it is set in the Pacific Ocean with the US Navy, I think it will lead you to "Tales of the South Pacific", which includes "Until They Sail".

Re unwanted phone calls

Have you never heard of "Caller ID" or "Call Blocker" ? I have both .
All friends and contacts are stored in my phone's memory and their name will appear on the phone's screen so I know who is calling before I decide whether to pick up the phone. Any "unavailable" or "withheld" numbers go straight to "answerphone" where they are either blocked, or dealt with, if someone has left a genuine message. We are in the 21st Century and being polite on the phone to a "conman" (which is what a lot of them are) is not an option for me.
Some of the calls coming in from Asia and Africa (conmen) are now able to show their number as being from England ! In which case, if I do not recognise the number, I go online to "who-called.co.uk" where thousands of people have already commented on whether the call is dangerous, harrassing, Microsoft scam, oven-cleaning scam, Dyson scam, car accident scam, window-recycling scam +++
Some pre-recorded calls, say "press 9 " (or similar)if you wish your number to be deleted from their database. Do NOT take any notice of this, as pressing "9" or whatever number, will take you to a premiium-rated call .

Good morning, Rusty!
Warm and wet today!
Very surprisingly, the temperature is up to 12C.
Have you been out yet for your paper?
I am buying a daily paper this week as John is away yet again! (they do go on a lot of holidays!)
Now, I have heard of "Until they Sail".......perhaps you have mentioned it before? (my memory is not always reliable!)
I think there was a film based on the story?
I am going out for the day with an old friend...she is coming to pick me up in about an hour's time.
I should be home again about teatime.
Do you have anything planned?
Are you going to inspect the decorating?

Good morning, Elle!
Lovely day here.
No, no paper today, I do not think.
Yes, Until They Sail was a film, too.
About four New Zealand sisters, and a US Navy ship in port, if that's the correct term?
Very good story!
I have planned posting a birthday card and little else.
Will see what the day brings forth.
No, there is mainly stripping paper, no decorating yet, but we are a tad puzzled that Curry's are now selling the tumbly dryer at £130 more than we paid for it.
No idea why!
Hope you enjoy your jaunt!

Thank you for that. I have heard of the call blocking but would need a new phone, or some other kind of expense. I am thinking about it, though.
If I get an unknown call on my mobile (few because I only once gave that number to a company) I don't answer and then google the number, as you suggest. Always a scam.
Plus I will never again go for a "Free Trial" advertised on the internet. They are not, of course, free. It was a nightmare trying to end the amounts taken off my credit card. This was many, many years ago.

Hello, Rosalind,
On my mobile phone I can "block" numbers by adding to "auto reject" list.
But they come up with new numbers then!
I have quite a few in my "reject" list!

I have "caller ID" which is great . I ignore all the "unavailable" and "witheld" calls. If it turns out they are friends, or known contacts, they will leave a message and I will return their call. I also google any strange numbers . There are several sites for this.

I tried a call blocker but it was very complicated to set up and did not suit me.

Stay safe

Hello, Jazzgirl,
I think my landline phone came out of the Ark.
There is no ID facility on it, or answering machine.
It is a BT model.
Seems to be a good idea to have caller ID, though.
