21a - I've got an answer that parses perfectly, but it requires a letter removed to make the definition. I know the reference to "not in definition" is only mentioned in the sentence referring to misprints but, that said, I don't think I've got any other instances of the definition being altered in those clues with letters removed.

Have I gone wrong?

A very enjoyable puzzle overall. I enjoyed learning about the theme which is new to me. Thanks for the fun puzzle Skylark!

Brendan, I wouldn’t worry. I think 15a also has a removal in the definition, though in that case it’s two words, not one. I’m sure your answer is correct

Many thanks Dodgepot,

Of course you're right. In my confusion over which are misprints and which removals (there are some sneaky clues where both can apply), I completely forgot about 15a.

Anyway, I finally have the book and message so I'm going to take a well earned break now and come back for the final part later tonight.

Still not cracked the end game, would appreciate help with finding extra letters in 3d, rushes wildly and 26d, kangaroo one. I have both answers.

The book is not one I know. But Googling suggests that what is meant by the third word in the instruction is (initially) “A D-C”. However, I can’t see the full form in the grid. Am I completely off-piste?

Hi Lumen,

3d - you need to remove a letter tp produce the 5th and 6th letter of the answer (which are reversed/'upset')

26d - is a misprint to produce the first 3 letters of the answer. It's a well known word but if you didn't already know it mean that short word you'd never guess it:-)

Well, I didn't need that break after all as, once you locate the character, the reference to parallel lines in the preamble helps considerably.

Thanks to Skylark for a taxing but fun puzzle:-)
