Apologies for the double post. The captcha kept saying it hadn't posted. GWR Internet is not the best can I delete it?

I would like to think so Brendan but the PL has thrown up some odd results of late.

I've had the problem with the post apparently not appearing a few times in the last weeks. Also 3 or 4 times the captcha box didn't appear, and of course the attempted post was refused!]

I've attempted to report it to admin Chris but not sure that submission went either.

Excellent clues, 14a is ingenious especially because the real name of the villain in a more obvious work of fiction fits 3 6 and in fact only has 3 different letters, making it almost irresistible.

The best aha moments are when you're sure you've got a word you've never heard before based on the wordplay, I had this on 12a.

A couple of the general knowledge requirements here were pretty outlandish but I think it was possible to spot what GK you needed in the case of e.g. 10d and 26d so possible to google for it without really feeling you were cheating too much.

Struggling with this one I have an answer which is related to 26a and only letters I have are L - H from the crossers. I can’t fully parse my answer. Am I on the right track

Birder, I can see the word you are thinking of that relates to 26, but it has nothing to do with that. Your H is wrong.

Looks as if you have 8a wrong, birder. The second word is a synonym for dismiss.
