Got up at 6am today to get a flight then a drive in shocking weather so maybe that's why I didn't find this as easy as others did.

Still three left. 10a, 13a and 17a.

Surprised nobody has mentioned 18a which I found a really poor clue but maybe I'm missing something. Pressing on now I've got a bit of time.

Ok, thanks to Chrise ( or is it Chris E?) And Jono. The solution to17a became absolutely obvious once I got rid of the fixed idea that the definition was "ignorant". As for 18a, it turns out that the problem was that I had the wrong answer to 15d. Jono's suggestion led me to realise what the 1st letter of 18a had to be, and then I immediately saw the right solution to 15d, which is a much better fit to the clue than the one I had.

Finally wrapped up on Sunday morning. I definitely found this tougher than many on here but a good puzzle from Brummie. I'm always a bit distracted at airports so it just wasn't clicking.
FOI 9a. LOI 17a which also became my COD in the end.

Agree that 17a was a clever misdirect - I was fixated on the wrong anagram for ages. Started off quickly with this but there were a few that held me up for ages at the end. 5d made me smile too :-)

Finished before coming to this forum, unusually, though I had to scan Crossword Solver's lists of possibilities for 13a and 22d, joint LOI. FOI was 9a, which then helped with 2, 3 and 4 and got us off to a flying start. COD perhaps 6a: I couldn't think of an 8-letter anagram with only 2 vowels until I had most of the crossers, ir seemed unlikely.

One of my fastest solves ever, I think, as I only really started this afternoon.
