Thanks for your help at # 7 Cockie. This has led me to a significant synonym, but the shape it forms was not what I was expecting. I was looking for something with a closed loop. The shape I have does not seem to me to match the thematic symbol given by the corrected letters. Or is the shape I have an acceptable alternative?

0pt0, posts 20 & 21 should help you to confirm the correct shape.

Thanks Gitto. Those posts do indeed confirm the cells I am thinking of highlighting, but I am still confused because the shape is different from the conventional sign for the thematic symbol.

I have now a full grid, and know the cells to highlight (though I agree the shape is slightly dodgy). But I have 2 parsing queries, 16 across and 22 down (which is one of the 5 altered answers).

Hints on these would be appreciated.

16.. Without stopping 2-3 around L(ine). Assume letter change is 1st one of 4th word

22.. Thematic couple to start then Money is letters 3,4 and 7 and those surround the royal one

My thanks too for post 21.

Like others I have a completed grid (and have successfully reverse engineered the 4 changed clues - none of which had I solved before).

I remain a bit troubled by 16a - both the letter change (can only decipher the last 4 words of the message, although that was enough) and the word play, which would make more sense to me if the first two letters were swapped.

All rather enjoyable nonetheless

And posting works. Now understand letter change in 16a and, as a result, have the first word of the message too. Thank you
