Still counting only eleven special instruction clues, unless 11d is a homophone indicator? What am I missing?

minno, I made a point of counting last night. Found 8 special acrosses and 4 downs. I'll try to cook up some spoiler-free hints.

Five specials with single digit clue numbers.
Two with clue numbers in the teens.
Five with clue #s in the twenties.

There's a run of 4 consecutive specials with single digit clue #s.
Two consecutive with clue numbers in the teens.
Two consecutive with clue numbers in the twenties.

Sorry, last should end
Three consecutive specials with clue numbers in the twenties.

Good grief!

I mean 8 special DOWN clues and 4 ACROSS clues!

Geeker@4 Are you sure you've got that the right way around, only I've got 4 SI in the acrosses and 8 in the downs.

Ordinarily I'd have listed acrosses first, but last night I went through the grid in numerical order and the downs thus got enumerated first.

The Stoke one! Didn't parse it. All special answers come from one 12a (singular) of ...?
