Finished the grid a few minutes ago and very much in the GWIT category for me at the moment. Hoping inspiration will strike in bed.

I had a good time with this one. The ending may feel a little GWIT for Chambers app users as the theme word is missing from search results (although the root word is in the app). But once that was secured the rest followed somewhat nicely.

Lots of cold solving done, but still not started the jigsaw! Please help with 'Given notice within but Enid on vacation'. (8) I know the letter to be removed but that's not helping.

Lumen, def. is 'given'. Removing the letter leaves a Latin word. In English, it gives the start of the entry (2)
+ 'notice (4) + 'Enid' gutted.

All finished this morning. Got held up by the key word not being in the app, as pointed out earlier. But the usual trick when you can't find an anagram you think should be there worked.

Very nice puzzle indeed in my view. I always enjoy the 'no clue numbers' puzzles. Only loose end is the significance of XXX, which I suspect is the issue others had earlier.

I'm probably in the same place as you, Lumen. The 7 double clues yielded their secrets pretty quickly, which makes things easier, but I'm slow at cold solving so I'm glad I was able to start last night. About a third done and hoping the grid fill and end game will become clear as I progress. The XXX has so far eluded me also. But other things call for my attention so the rest must wait.

Think XXX must just mean a large amount..?
I have grid filled now, except the first cell in 'keep following Abba' clue (I think). Can't understand that one at all.

Think about exactly what those 3 words describe lumen. Should become clear then.

Another mental clue adjustment should help with 'XXX' - think small for the middle one.
