The M is wrong in your letters for the across.

... and the first letter is not an F. The name has an apostrophe after the first letter so, although it is 6 letters, it's really 1,5

Nearly all the British ones are pink rather than purple!

Chambers has an entry under ‘purple’ which refers to the entry under ‘long-purple’ which is defined as a type of these.

Thanks, jono, chrise & brendan! I'd got that SE corner in a mess. Having removed FLORID, MILKED (which was always dubious) and PINOCCHIO, I'm now complete except for 25a: *I*O*C*C*. (Just spotted that what I'd got previously didn't work: "milked" seemed iffy so I'd written it small and then misread the "L" as an "I" which fitted "Pinocchio"!)

So, a hint, please for 25a! Seems to be an actor, not also another word (nothing in Crossword Solver).

I'd guessed "too", but because I had that "m" I was looking for *TOOM*!

Your O is still wrong in 25a. The answer is thematic, but not an actor (or a very minor one, anyway!)

One of the most famous names in the business over many many years.
A name you will know even though he is not an actor.

Got it:LOI 25a. I'd misread my amended 22! Thanks, both: the "minor actor" did the trick!
