By Hamish's usual challenging standards, a somewhat gentler offering this month. One or two references required a bit of Googling.

Thanks, Hamish and Jono. I'm always pleased to see a Soup puzzle. Gentler, perhaps, but I still had to reverse engineer a couple in the SE corner.

Made quick progress and thought it was going to be plain sailing but getting the last few across the line proved quite tricky. SE corner held out the longest for me too.
Great fun, thanks to Hamish.

No problems in the SE for me. My only struggle is with 5a where the answer to the clue (maybe) fits without needing an anagram.

Don't think so. Solution to clue as it stands does not fit with crossers.

Apologies. Yes it does fit but you must still make an anagram.

I liked this. A deceptively clever idea

Many thanks, Hamish; that was a very enjoyable challenge. And the pre-entry answer to 30 gave me a giggle.

I've got the answer to 23D (I think), but can't find the original answer. Any parsing tips please? My crossing letters are D, S, S.
