Thank you Imogen for a really brilliant crossword. The clues were so clever and witty. Thanks also to those of you who gave hints and tips.I surprised myself by getting the Tennyson clue really quickly and can remember studying that particular poem for O Level English a very long time ago.

Hi barryc
It parses 1, 3 (possibly a bit obscure), 1, to make half of an island (with a Treasure Island association).

I've finished including the very unsatisfactory 21ac, which I've guessed.

Like you Barry, a number of the answers made me laugh.

FOI was 28ac, LOI 21ac, CODs 14d, 8d and 10ac

Now for the French drama on BBC4

Sorry, both, nothing at all wrong with 21a

Yes, 21 is correct but perhaps subtle. Look at a relevant map.

I initially took the defn. of 21 to be the first 2 words of the clue. But it seems to be an &lit (something that often escapes me). Either the first 4 and/or final 4 words of the clue would be a more accurate definition.

I don't think it quite works as &lit, geeker. I took it as H(ot) (island) (island) to give half of Hispaniola.

(You have to know that letters 2-4 mean an island!)

Yes, that's how I parsed it as well.
