About average in difficulty, which is not terribly tough.

I had never heard the phrase "done and dusted" but it seemed to fit better than other options.

Anagramming the first two words of clue 13D was one of the most difficult anagrams I've ever solved (eventually). I was thinking the wrong part of Europe.

In 20A, I have the most obvious answer, fitting the crossings, but I don't see its connection with the word "advocaat" in the clue.

What in the world is that word (Afrikaans? Finnish?) doing in the clue?

I apologize for forgetting that the custom here is to avoid mentioning answers explicitly.

(Sometimes it's unfortunate that we can't edit our posts for say five minutes after posting.)

Daz, advocaat is a type of alcoholic drink.

Ohhhhh. Darla, thank you. Next time I should at least try to look up the word before asking about it.

Also: I had never known the word "twig" can be used to mean to suddenly understand something. But it was the only word that fit.

I wonder how that usage originated.

Once again, I could do all the clues other people found difficult and nobody else seems to have had trouble parsing 21 across. I understand the first 2 letters but if I've got the right place for the next four, I don't get the clue.

Hi helen
Read it as "Pacino's" rather than "Pacino"

Daz, you must not be British. I am an American myself, but picked up "twig" pretty quickly from this forum. Also PDM for penny-drop moment." I would be more likely to say use a light bulb metaphor. The best thing you can do is get the Chambers dictionary. It's available as an app as well. By the way, in Chambers it has that twig is possibly from the Gaelic "tuig" for understand. Nothing to do with botany.

Darla — You are so right, that I must not be British.

I already have a 1994 Chambers that I used at that time when I tackled the Listener crosswords.

But I don't want or need a dictionary to help me solve. I'm happy solving all I can without help (for 4059 that was all clues) and then search online (like here!) if I need help or the explanation of how some clues parse.
