I've never seen the film either, but I've just read the plot on Wikipedia, and can't see the significance of "as'll". What do you think it might be?

According to my version of Chat, but I can't verify it

Thanks geting. That (sort of) explains it.

If this is regarded as easy then I am a lost cause!

I have solved 7 clues.

How do you approach 1a?

1ac - definition is ‘finished off’.
What a cake may be said to be when it’s ready to be taken out of the oven, and what you might have done to it (with icing sugar) afterwards.

1a could be tricky - you either know the phrase or you don't. The wordplay isn't a lot of help!

2d - My answer means "agrees" but the rest of the clue has me confused. It seems to be hinting at a homophone, but there's only one option and it means 'going up', unless it's split into two words but they still don't mean 'say' or 'to be heard'.

No-one else had queried it so I'm obviously missing something blindingly obvious, but what?

I think you mean 3d.
The homophone is of what ‘hearing’ is one of (there being 4 others).

Sorry, that was rather clumsy. Hearing is a *****

(And ‘to be heard’ is the homophone indicator. ‘Say’ indicates that it’s a definition by example, if I have the term correct)
