I found this a bit harder than usual, but maybe I'm just getting dimmer!

There are two clues with the same ending but, personally, I prefer rhyming pairs that have different spellings but I appreciate that's not always possible within the limits of a crossword.

15a was a new expression to me but it's in the Free Online Dictionary and the meaning and wordplay is clear, so no complaints.

There's also a really long initial letters clue - is this a record?

It's nice to see "one who went at 15mph" get a mention at 1a even if it seems so dated nowadays!

COD - I do like 12a but I'm going to pick 22d "Somewhat saucy and kind of blue (4) (Much like myself 😉)

Thanks to Everyman for an enjoyable puzzle.

Stay safe:-)

Hi Brendan,

I found this about median difficulty, perhaps slightly trickier. Started out really fast but then slowed down, although some of that was caused by making a typo in the grid.

Thanks to Everyman. Really enjoyed 1a (which was FOI) and 24 because of subject matter. Let's call them co-COD.

LOI was 18, but only because I mistyped 20, which messed up a crosser and caused confusion.

The expression 15 is (or once was? I'm an oldster) common in the USA.

I found this one quite easy but unenjoyable. 25a is a bit dubious imho.

Totally agree with you on 25a, my LOI. Favourite for me 20a coz it's that time of year!

15 is common enough where I am from (Ireland) but maybe more commonly used with a more definite article if you know what I mean.

I found this about median difficulty and came here with just one to conplete - 25. I see more than one of you have concerns about it. Any subtle hints?

If I am correct, it is an abbreviation and only tangentially fits the definition part of the clue. But I might be wrong.

JuniorBee - Yep, I stumbled over 25A too. A better clue might have been something like: Building work was completed on this feature ...

I rather liked this, some very long anagrams that took some teasing out, I needed the crossers before I worked out what was going on with 1a, and 25a was my LOI when I finally stopped trying to shoe-horn all sorts of face parts into the wordplay... Thanks Everyman and a happy Sunday to one and all.
