The 3rd letter of the answer for 25d doesn't feature in any of the across answers you mention, but three of them feature the 2nd, 4th and 5th letters - just leave a row free for that missing letter (the 3rd sentence of the preamble explains why).
An earlier post (#97) gives information regarding the first and last rows in the grid, and this, together with 29a, should help you position 25d correctly.

...sorry, I thought you had 7a as well - you'll need this answer for the 5th letter of 25d.

Sorry again - the 5th letter of 25d is in one of you answers, I've just given you where you'll find the 6th letter (it's hard keeping track of everything, even after the event!}.

Just to offer hope to anyone still slogging away at this - when I finally got the grid started it did all click together fairly quickly. Horrendous amount of cold solving though!

I have finally made some headway with fitting my answers in to the grid. I know the theme and have the 3x3 square. BUT.….Somehow or other I cannot fit in my answer to 15d. I could fit the answer in starting row 9, column 6 but that woul make it 191/2D!! HELP!!!

I would put it where it fits. The numbering refers to final grid entries, not the stage you’ve reached

Bother - The preamble doesn't say that extra blank cells (in 6 answers) always occur INSIDE the answer....
