Can't eat anything with chilli in myself, which can be difficult as I'm a vegetarian. But I hope you and any visitors enjoy it.

But thanks for your hints Chris. I looked at them and couldn't make any sense out of them, so went into the garden and sawed a branch off the cotoneaster. (It has been a lovely day here in Devon with a cloudless blue sky.) That made me feel better and I had another go at those last three clues. I got 1ac, though I don't get the last four letters in the homophone, which then helped me get 1d and then 9ac. I had considered taking those two letters off the film, but wasn't sure about it at the time.

So I finished.

My FOI was 12ac, which brought a smile to my face. My LOI was 9ac and my CODs were 12ac and 4ac (which also made me smile). There were quite a few that made me groan!

Well, for a while I found this really difficult, slow to get underway, but eventually I got going, and looking back I don't feel it was particularly difficult. I certainly enjoyed it. FOI 1d, which seemed really easy to me, so it was interesting to learn that it was Geeker's LOI; clearly two different kinds of brain. LOI 16d, which is probably my COD, but there were several others which I liked too, such as 1a, 13/18/7, etc.

My one remaining doubt is that I can't find a really satisfactory way of parsing 24a. I feel all the bits and pieces are there, but I'm finding it difficult to find a way to read it which really justifies the solution. Judging from previous occasions when I've felt that way about a clue, I'm probably missing something which should be really obvious. Any help?

What does “jolie” mean, and where might you be if you were to say it? (Letters 5 and 10 clued separately)
