Keep at it docrum. It's worth it and like Paul's usually do, they fall into place after you get going.

I do not normally get to look at this puzzle so early but I am a great fan of Paul. My FOI was 12 with a groan/smile. Also admired 4 which lead me to 13/18/7. Still a long way to go but I must say that last week's long forum did generate some strong feelings. I liked the fact that special instructions were not given. Surely the Nehru answer was a strong pointer? Anyway thanks to you all for the help that you give me and countless others.

I have ?I?E?- N?C?Y for 24A and A?O?I? for 22A. Are my letters right? Could I have a couple of strong hints.

should 13 be 13,7,18, or 13,18,7? sloppy to leave it ambiguous

Cymro, your O is wrong in 22a. Definition is “thing”

…and regarding 24 don’t be seduced by the capital J in Jolie. It’s nothing to do with the actress!

Like most others, I am stuck on 8d and 24a - I feel these must be phrases I've never heard. I'd really appreciate a hint .....

Both 8 and 24 contains words that are repeated (something Geeker referred to @9)
