I’m glad you think so too, biffo, as that was my immediate thought right at the top of the thread. However it’s interesting that Boatman has apparently mentioned the error in 25a (see jono, many posts back), but hasn’t as far as I’m aware said anything about the absence of a special instruction. So perhaps he did intend us to work it out for ourselves. I agree though: I think it would be a first.
Perhaps jono can elicit something from Boatman?

Rogissimo, see my post @89 the second part of which covers the special instruction point. Perhaps it was an editorial mix up, perhaps not. Either way we all seem to have solved the puzzle which is surely good!

And yes, deliberate or not on the part of Boatman, I ended up enjoying the additional challenge.

It's really difficult to say! A posteriori, having solved the puzzle I prefer it w/o preamble.

But if 21 hours ago while I was struggling, one queried me about a possibly missing preamble, I'd have preferred one!

As a dedicated second guesser / Monday morning quarterback etc. I'll stick with the posterior decision. 🤣

60s? I saw them in 1993, daughter saw them this year (plenty of personnel changes along the way. Also, if you don't know the band but do know agricultural history,... 😁

My younger son is here from Australia so didn’t start until this morning , what an exciting forum! Have finished ,had got 18 and 21 before I looked at forum so was not aware of theme. I did consult list of …….. , I have no problem with that ,all part of the puzzle solving and learning process. A very clever and tricky crossword ,certainly consider it an achievement to have completed it with help from you guys of course. Thanks to Boatman and the forum best wishes to all.
