Apologies if I am being dim. Grid filled. Endgame completed. But cannot parse 28d (certainly put in narrow place with most colour (6)). Have answer. Understand “certainly “ but what’s with the “narrow place”? Thanks for your help

This held me up for a while until I realised that there are 2 possible words for "certainly" both contained within the answer. You need to use the one beginning Y rather than the one beginning A and then you'll find that the surrounding letters are a word for a narrow place.

I came late to this (life will get in the way of crossword solving!) I have the theme an almost full grid - just one cell to fill in 10d and I have the 5 thematic entries. But having made the thematic entry for 21a I can’t find a real word to enter in 10d (and I can’t parse that clue anyway). Without the thematic entry in 21a I can see that there would be a real word entry for 10d, assuming that the last word is the definition but then 21a would be mince. Any advice much appreciated!

Jack, how many letters do you think 10down is?

10d only has five letters, so it does not intersect with 21a, but sits above it
