I'm almost done, but still have no idea for 14d and 44a. Got all the others, but I still need one theme word. Am I on track?

14d: first 2 letters are half of a hyphenated word for 'tolerable'. Second 5-letter word is themed. 44a is a homophone for a type of horse, which will give you a themed word.

I've sort of finished. The grid is completed but, for the last few, I had to draw heavily on this forum (thanks to all who posted) and Dan Word's helpful site.

I don't wish to inject a sour note but I can't say I enjoy Maskarade's puzzles overmuch. I found the theme easily (from the anagram at 42) but took ages over the last few clues. 6 across was dreadful and 63 across even worse. It took more than a little bit of help from my friends! I seem to be in a minority but I'd prefer easier clues and a more challenging theme..

Thank you! I had been working on that anagram - I think I've got it now. One of the 4 clues with a themed word for the solution? I'll keep going! Great forum by the way!

No worries. glad to help. Yes one of the 4 clues with themed word for solution , if you are still working on it think Canada. I have managed to finish but have found more than four and am struggling to find 30 in word play. Useful posts by Jono and Budy at 47 and 48 and another clue to get a start is 41a definition is unchanged and you need surnames of actors.
Happy fishing!

dhope,
If it helps, Buddy and I compared notes and concluded that there are 29 single-themes, 6 double-themes and 5 where the answer is a theme word. 40 in all, but not quite what the preamble suggests. Of course, we could yet be proved wrong…

Thanks Jono , I have only identified 27 single clues, if I count 61a and 6a I get 6 theme word solutions and 3 double themes. I can’t face anymore counting today !! Can you help me with parsing of 9a?

9a is a double definition - the last four words of the clue refer to an obscure meaning of the word, which is nonetheless to be found in Chambers. (I'd certainly never heard of it, and didn't find it by googling.)
